Kid is an admitted lean to OSU right now, but did mention that he likes Notre Dame and will give them a serious look.

I go to school with kyle and know hes visited ohio state at least two or three times. He is a great basketball player also. I know boston college and ohio st have both offered for football but said he could play basketball also because that is his first love, which is pretty impressive especially at ohio state. He has to be one of the best red zone weapons in the country. His height, enormous hands, and jumping ability make it almost an automatic touchdown every time in the red zone. One game this season against lasalle, ben martin's team, he had three consecutive touchdowns off jumpballs to win the game. He basically can't be stopped on a jumpball. I'm really hoping we offer him but i don't think tight end is one of our bigger worries regarding the next few years.

Charlie offered kyle during his visit to south bend yesterday and told him that they think hes best tight end in the country for 08. They told him that they want two tight ends in next years class, including him and that other TE from california and charlie told him that they try to have 4 to 5 tight ends on the roster each year and they usually use three of them. Kyle was a big osu lean before this visit but now after seeing how charlies utilizes his tightends, osu and nd are about even, possibly even nd with a slight lead even though its still real early obviously.

Very nice. While OSU is obviously the better program, I don't think there is a program in the country that utilizes tight ends better. If you're a top tight end with dreams on playing on Sunday, Notre Dame should be your top choice.

No question that anyone that is a tight end high on the recruiting radar as a senior will look at Notre Dame year in and year out. Parcells passed the love of the tight end down to Weis and his first two years at ND echo that.

Johnny Carlson will probably go pro after this year and he's only been a starter for one season.

Look at the records Jeff Samardzija broke in two years.

Apparently, Carlson has told the staff he wants to come back. Guess we'll have to see at the end of the year after the Draft bugs get into his system, but that's what I've heard.

But yes, Notre Dame is quickly becoming Tight End U. Could you imagine if Weis got ahold of a kid like Vernon Davis or Antonio Gates?

Carlson is the best TE in college football. Once January rolls around, that tune could change.

Truthfully, if he does come back and Walker is still around that will help whoever the 2007 QB is tremendously. I hope he returns, but his stock might be too high.

If any TE see's what CW has done for Carlson and Fasano, I'm sure they are salivating at the chance of playing for ND. Wonder if Greg Olsen regrets leaving ND?

I'd love to steal this kid from the Bucknuts. If CW could go into JT's territory and steal few nice prospects, that would make my year.

Olsen left before Weis even showed up. Hindsight is 20/20.

Mr. Rudolph has a nice frame. He'll be a good one.

The TE position is unquestionably the mosted stocked position on the ND roster for years to come but there's always room for more.
Welcome to TE U, Mr. Rudolph.
Oh by the way, soon to become DB U, WR U, OT U, OC U and let's not forget, Quarterback Central as well.
The future's so bright, all commits will be issued sunglasses as essential team gear.

Cincinnati is not JT's territory to the extent that the rest of the state is. Ohio ST. is still the big dog here with recruits, but it's nowhere near the lock. Michigan has taken some big ones out of Cincinnati. There are a lot of ND fans as well. It's a very Catholic city. Charlie can take the GCL (Greater Catholic League)if he works hard enough at it.

Looks like a good TE prospect. Hey Svoboda, where do you get all these pictures of the prospects. They are very good pictures.

Oh my goodness, the kid is probably the most dangerous red zone player in the nation next year. Could get plenty of opportunities of scoring touchdowns... It seems like the 08 class is starting to rumble underneath the backgrounds of Ohio, Texas, and Florida. Rudolph would be a wellcomed addition. Weis wasn't lying when he said he wanted depthand he sure is not letting anything stand in his way and next year would prove it doesn't matter what age you are if earn the position you will start or play a lot of minutes..

That's what I'm talking about! Didn't even know he played football until this year. He's one heck of a basketball prospect too. Kid is a hoss.

Come on to ND Mr. Rudolph where CW knows how to use your talents. have you noticed that OSU's top TE has 9 catches so far while Carlson has 45 already. Fasano also seems to be catching a little time as a rookie for Dallas. Yes - Notre Dame knows how to use tight ends and knows how to get you to the NFL.

Man... Fasano, now Carlson, Reuland in last year's class, Ragone in this year's class, and Rudolph as a potential '08. While we may be hoping for ND to become Every Position U, the framework for a long line of very good, well rounded NFL TEs is already in place. To an extent, there's a framework being built for WRs and fullbacks (See replacing Stovall with McKnight, RPN with Schwapp with Ashley McConnell), but the lineage is already there with TEs. Now, we probably won't be competing for the Vernon Davis/Antonio Gates type TE/WR hybrid because blocking is a major point of emphasis in Weis's offense, but I can definitely see this string of TEs starting in the NFL in a couple years.

Mr. Rudolph reminds me of a larger Maurice Stovall. He has the talent to compete with our already elite contingent of tight Ends. I hope he is a domer.

By the way, John Carlson was rated high last year by some teams in the NFL. This year we are seeing why. If John did come back next year, he would be the featured receiver on the offense. But, I think teams in the NFL are going to make a huge push to get him out of ND. John, I hope you stay and mentor these young turks the way Anthony mentored you.

Given that Charlie Weis actually is one of the few coaches that promotes dual-athletes, and given the fact that our basketball team kind of sucks, is there anyway he could do both at ND, I know the seasons overlap, but if he as good at basketball as he is at football, is that a possibility?

I suppose it could be a Trannon type situation. I think Trannon switches over to basketball after FB season is over, if i'm not mistakened

He did, I don't think Trannon is playing for Izzo this year.

And I'm sure Brey's squad could use all the help it could get!

Basketball has always been his greatest love. OSU, Wake Forest, and BC have all told him he could play basketball too if he came there on a football scholarship. I don't think that topic came up when he was talking to weis, but i'm not even sure if its as big of a deal to him after this past football season since he now realizes his best chance of getting the furthest will be in football.
