Oh my bad, I thought he was a senior. But we need more WR's like floyd to come to ND. Depth is a football teams best friend.

I absolutely agree, and I do think he'll definitely play right from the start. But we have some quality receivers on this team, and I don't see Floyd moving ahead of four out of Grimes, West, Parris, Kamara, and Tate (not to mention Richard Jackson - and is there anyone else I'm leaving out) to be a STARTER as a freshman. Your point is well-taken, though: he'd be a huge get, and would contribute right off the bat.

Actually, let me rephrase that last sentence: he WILL be a huge get, and WILL contribute right off the bat.

I have no doubt that a top-notch Frosh can get contribute. Look how many have played in the first two games. Floyd (at ND) would have a great shot at hitting the field as a Frosh!

I agree 100%. My only complaint was with the claim that he'd START as a frosh.

We need Floyd in the WORST WAY. We need 2 or 3 STUD HOSS RECIEVERS THAT CAN GET OPEN AND CAUSE A THREAT TO ANY TEAM. Mike if you can see this just commit right now!!!!! You will start as a Freshman.

Agreed. Receivers just can't get open. We just didn't see it before because the QB never had time to throw. Now that he had a little time, it appears that it didn't matter anyway. We need WR who can create space.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press is reporting that Ohio State is "still" leading for Michael, but that ND is still pushing really hard for him.

---Too bad that same guy is guessing because O$U is the only team that's winning and it's the other way around.

Yeah, that's why I put "still" in quotations. As you can see I posted this little bit of info not too long ago.

Michael told a Buckeye website that ND is his leader, but he would still like to take officials to UM, OSU, and UF to see what's out there, however he probably won't take all 5 visits.

From the Pioneer Press:

The only scheduled official football recruiting visit for Cretin-Derham Hall wide receiver Michael Floyd is to Notre Dame on Oct. 20 for its game against Southern California. The state's top football prospect will visit South Bend, Ind., with his parents.

If he decides to come to ND we are going to have 3 absolutely sick receivers for Clausen to throw to. Actually check that with a depth chart of Tate, Kamara, Parris, Grimes, Goodman, Jackson, Hord, Floyd, and possibly Walker and Baldwin plus all the TE's our offense is going to be scary good in a couple of years. David West can also be used in that equation because he can fly with the ball in his hands. We are young this year, but we have a plethora of young ballers on the squad. Let's hope Weis can keep all those '08 defensive guys because this squad has got some major potential in the future.

I really hope Weis puts a lot of attention into getting Floyd. I am hoping that Floyd commits after his visit. Kumara, Floyd and Parris remind me a lot of McNight, Stovall and Samardzja. Throw in Rudolph and Romine and that is a sick assortment of tall receivers for Clausen to throw to. Add a couple of deep threat like Tate, Grimes and West. The future is really bright. We really need Floyd though because I feel that he will be the best of all of them and the one WR who could get some frickin separation!

I thought is was James West. Or have I been watching too many Wild Wild West re-runs??

No, it's Geroge. Also, there has been rumors that Floyd might be setting up an official visit to O$U for their Wisconsin game. I guess we'll have to wait and see weather or not it turns out to be true.

Romine is a tackle.

Want to know what I really like about the Notre Dame team now that I didn't necessarilly like beofre? We don't NEED specific players. Don't get me wrong, it would be AMAZING to land Floyd, Harper, Sabino, etc... but if these kids decide to go somewhere else, we are at the point now with CW that we can just bring in the players that DO want to play for the Irish and are really darn good at what they do. Look at Brady Quinn, he wanted to play for ND so bad that it took major convincing of himself and ndukwe for Willingham to even offer a scholarship.

We will get the players to change this team around, and we ARE getting these players. If Floyd decides to go to OSU, good luck to him.

Sabino eliminated ND shortly after his trip here.

Floyd will be awesome no matter where he ends up, but I think Kamara will be the best Receiver when all is said and done.

Well, with all the rumors circulating who the mysterious 2nd commited WR is, the most likely candidate seems to be Michael Floyd, but here's the bad news. However while Michael is still very excited about his visit to ND this weekend, I'm also hearing that a November 3rd visit to Ohio State is looking more likely, and if not then, then he might possible go to OSU one of the first two weeks of December. One of the things that may be hurting the Irish here is that his friend and former teamate Matt Carufel has recently left ND, and returned hom with an intent to transfer.

I dont know about carulfel influencing his decision. Lets hope, if he says anything, it wasnt anything about the coaches or the facilities. It doesnt seem like the kid left on bad terms or anything.

From what I understand he left because he was jumped on the depth chart, and he hadn't been able to fit in and make very many friends.

To me, t hat doesnt seem like it will happen with Floyd, i see him being a solid receiver and get a lot of playing time if he comes here.

That should have been his que to work harder to win his spot back, not quit. If he's rather take the easy way out instead of working harder I can't bring myself to get too upset that he left -- I don't care how much potential he had.
