Deion just came out with a list of his top three, ND did not make the cut. They are Florida St., LSU, and Penn State. But he is still planning on comming to the Navy game. I think it's just about time to send out a new offer because I think ND's chances with Walker and Harper are slim to none, and Baldwin seems to be a Pitt lean. Come on down Brandon Green and/or Garell Robinson.

If we did not make his top 3 then does he have to pay his own way to the game? I would not even give him a ticket.

Ugh. Too bad. Well I've been saying for a long time that I didn't think we had a chance with him, so oh well.

One trip is probably a small price to pay if you think that you can really "wow" a recruit.

If you are trying to get two more WRs, it probably makes sense to send out another offer to make sure that you get two of them (and maybe put pressure on the ones that haven't committed yet)

True, you never know what'll happen if you get them on campus, especailly on a gameday. Remember that when Omar came to ND he really had no intention of picking them. It was almost a sight seeing trip on his way to Michigan.

I saw Gerrell Robinson play a couple weeks ago (on tv) and I can't say he blew me away (but im no Mike Frank).

I think I said I liked Walker better after Butler committed to USC, so I am just going to say:

All this class needs is Floyd and possibly Baldwin.

two WR wouldn't hurt. I agree though if ND gets Floyd and we keep everyone commited i won't complain

For those of you that don't know know Deion will still be making his official visit to ND for the Navy game. He is also going to have Jimmy Clausen as his host since the two have seemed to have formed a good friendship. I'm also hearing reports that ND may not be as big of a long shot here as most have thought for some time. Let's hope everything goes great this weekend and then see how things shake out next week.

I could not imagine an offense with Tate, Kamara, Floyd and Walker. Plus, if you have a combination of those guys out there, that means great matchups for guys like Parris and Goodman

That brings back bad memories of people talking about how scary ND's offense was going to be with Benn, G.Little, Kamara, and Ragone. :sigh:

That's great in my mind. I just got home, so I don't know if anything came out tonight but as of this afternoon no real reports had surfaced about his visit from any of the sites. But I did hear from a couple of stundents that said he looked like he was having a great time during the game with Darius Fleming, Steve Filer and Braxton Cave.

I don't know how many of you vist it DD, but here are Gallup's (Nick's) updates on the Walker situation here in case any of you guys missed them. The first post was a reponse on weather Deion stayed an extra night.

Gallup21 said:
im working my ass off to get this confirmed by a recruit...sent dayne an email and deion's not on IM at his house..it says hes been away for about 3 days so thats a positive...could mean hes at ND. ill try and find out more

Gallup21 said:
ok, so ive pulled about 4 recruits/players into this. Just talked to Dayne and Anthony and Deion and a player and they all said (including Deion) he didnt commit...i followed up on a facebook message asking if he stayed an xtra night. ill keep you guys posted

Gallup21 said:
sorry guys...Deion said he spent the night in Chicago. But Dayne thinks we have a good shot and Dayne's been right before (i.e Jonas Gray).

Gallup21 said:
Dayne said "We've got a good shot with him [Deion Walker], trust me."

well ill trust him

Gallup21 said:
Jimmy was Deion's host according to Dayne....and Jimmy said he had a good time.

If you remember McDonald said the same thing about Crist right before he commited. Things look really good to me.

Great work Nick! :awesomewo

Remember that these guys aren't just football recruits. They go to a school to get education and in the case of Notre Dame I think the guys who end up going there recognize that academics for the student athlete is serious. These high school players realize that only one team wins a NC and one person wins the Heisman each year. So even if you go to a program in contention for the NC this year, that doesn't mean you will be in 3-4 years, or that you winning it means a chance to play professional. Jerry Rice and Steve McNair (and many others) didn't go to NC schools.

To conclude that players only go to schools for those reasons is a slight to them. I am sure they all want to be on a winning program and many have aspirations of continuing their football career. If they commit its because they are looking at a bigger picture than what is currently happening on the field for a few hours on Saturdays. If they feel this program is turning around, great. Commit away, the more the better.

I understand your points and agree...I just think it is interesting that they are seeing something that makes them want to be part of the future!

If Weis can recruit like this when he is 1-8 what can he do when he starts winning consistantly!!!

They see 2 back to back top 10 recruiting classes. Plenty of playing time for current fr and soph. classes. A team that has immediate playing time available and numerous positions open for incoming competion. Oh yeah and the number 1 class in the country.. I would take signing this class (with another wr, ath, and hopefully 2 o'l ) over winning out this season if it came to that. This class is make or break for charlie imo

I think the recruiting success and recent commitments given all the other troubles on the field makes this season the most peculiar (right word? suggest another if not) season I have been apart of since I started following Notre Dame.

I think that's an accurate statement.
