He hit the Patriots hard. A lost of a first round pick if they make the playoff, or second or third rounds if they dont. On top of 750,000.00 I don't think teams will be videotaping. Now if the Mad Scientist could videotape The Skunkbears we will have a better shot.

I cannot believe that a professional football team has to cheat. Penalty is good. I think they should take two picks from them.

Cheating happens all over sports, The Pats, Barry Bonds just to name a few. Vijay Singh even has been convicted of cheating. My slogan: Cheat to Win, Just Don't get Caught

Wow...this really does kinda tarnish the reputation of the Pats "out smarting" their fellow NFL teams throughout the years. Its kinda like steroids, sure it wasn't the only reason the Pats won, but every win is now full of skepticism.

Endorsing Barry Bonds and Cheating? Fail.

Personally, I think the Pats got off kinda light..

...I didn't know for sure what they should get, but I heard Eric Casillius (sp?) on ESPNradio the day before saying that if they wanted to be fair to the players, they should hand Bellichek a 4 game suspension. He said it was akin to being caught with steriods as a player...they were trying to gain a significat competitive advantage...I thought it sound like a pretty fair argument

Does anyone else think so or do you like the NFL's decision better?

They could lose a First round draft pick

The Pats will lose their first round draft pick because they are definitely going to make the playoffs, however, it won't hurt all that bad as they picked up the Niners first round draft pick in a trade in this past draft.

oooooooooooo...they could lose a first round draft pick? gee, maybe they could get someone thru free agency instead....maybe they could trade an existing player for someone else's 1st rounder...maybe they might even survive with the big names they have on their roster currently?

Seriously, how does this punish any of the current year's team? by cutting into bill's hoodie money? that is less than 1/8 of bill's gross from the Pats...not counting any endorsement moneis he might be pulling in

Do you honestly think that the Pats are the only team doing this type thing. Mangini ratted on the guy that gave him everything, like he didn't know what was going on. Who was his mentor again?

I'm not a Pats fan but this is no way on the same level as using a performance enhancing drug. Last time I checked they were illegal unless you had a perscription. Recording signals is cheating to a degree but its not illegal.

That's irrelevant....THEY GOT CAUGHT. Next time you're in a crowd of cars and you get pulled over by the cop, see how much it gets you to claim that "everyone was doing it".

According to the commissioner, it is against league rules. That's all that matters.

I was responding to a post that stated the punishment was not severe enough. A total cash fine of 750,000 and a first round pick is pretty severe. And no I dont think it is as bad as using a banned substance so I feel a suspension would not be warranted. Is it wrong yes but your kidding yourself if you think Mangini didn't know this was happeing when he was coaching in New England.
