Yeah, he was a little indecisive, but once he gets a couple more under his belt he should be able to break some big ones. The kick return game set up some massive walls, AA and Golden just need to hit it hard.

My favorite recruit of 2007 ... and that's saying something with Claussen, Armando, Duval.

I suppose our board students could provide more insight on this, but I've heard he is fitting in really well up here and is also developing quite a following.

It'll probably take some time for him to see some time as WR, but he should see quite a bit of action in the return game.

The Golden Taters, perhaps?

Golden is a STUD, you just wait! I wish he would be more involved, and I know he will be soon.

Weis needs to put the talent on the field now. So they get the experience this year, so we dont have to wait untill next year to get their feet wet.

Well from what I understand Golden usually played RB for his high school team so it would be hard for him to be productive as a WR before really learning what's expected of the position at the college level.

It's sweet to see Mondo and Golden at KR as freshman in their first game.

I don't understand how people can say this. HIS NAME IS GOLDEN. You can't get any better than that, playing at Notre Dame :)

Trust me Goshengipper I watched Golden in practice EVERY day and watched him play in games for 3 years. HE WILL BE JUST FINE AT WR!!! Best hands I have EVER seen. And he did play a lot of WR in HS

I know he'll be just fine at WR, hopefully better than fine. I'm just passing along what I've heard, and that is that he hasn't looked as comfortable or as smooth yet as some of the other WRs in the some of the drills at practice. That's all, I'm not ripping him or anything.

Goshen, how DARE you deny that a freshman is anything other than ready to start, catch a hundred balls, and win the Heisman! After all, this kid got FOUR STARS from the recruiting services, and Grimes probably only got three - which shows, of course, that Tate's pretty much ready for the NFL, let alone the NCAA.

TennesseeIrish, it's not you whose balls I'm busting ... let me say again how much your insight is appreciated.

That was a pretty nice catch he made against the kittens. Too bad it got taken back because of holding. I think he has a very bright future ahead of him at ND. Go Irish!

My little brother played against him in baseball last year. He's a huge tate fan. He said when they were playing, Golden hit a ground rule double and he swears that Golden was about Three steps shy of 3rd base when the ball bounced over. He said he is the fastest baseball player he had ever seen. I've also heard this same thing from some of his teammates. It's great to have speed like that at N.D.

It was a good catch (damn penalty). He also made a nice tackle on a long KR. He took a bad angle and missed the guy, but turned, caught him by the sideline and made a nice tackle from behind. I like to see speed like that.

Yeah, cause had he not caught him it woud've been a touchdown. Golden is going to be so special, you can just see it. Golden doesn't have problems with his hands, it's just getting in and out of his brakes and timing his steps and things. That is nothing major, something you learn by practicing, it's more of a technique thing. But he should see more and more time as the year goes on.

Okay, so someone help me with this one. Weis had this exchange in his press conference today:

Q. In terms of (Duval) Kamara and (Golden) Tate, can you just evaluate what you're seeing from them?

COACH WEIS: I think they're both different players with huge upsides. I think that they definitely bring great athleticism to the wide receiver position. They're different players.

One of them is one of the fastest, if not the fastest guy on the team. And the other one is probably one of the best athletes on the team. So we're fortunate to have those two guys here in the program, and I think the future for both those guys is extremely bright.

My question is: which is which? I guess I assumed that Golden was BOTH the faster one AND the better "athlete", and that Kamara's major advantage was his size. So which is it? Is Duval faster than the Golden Boy, or is he a better athlete?
