Jones' high school coach in on the secret

Morgan Park coach Lexie Spurlock got a phone call Thursday morning from his former quarterback Demetrius Jones, who is battling freshman Jimmy Clausen and junior Evan Sharpley to start for Notre Dame Saturday against Georgia Tech.
Spurlock chuckled when intimating he didn't want to reveal Irish coach Charlie Weis' big secret, but the Mustangs coach said: "Let's just say Demetrius is going to make everyone in Chicago proud. I would think anyone who is taking most of the snaps in practice would be the guy who starts.
"Coach Weis knows with the new offensive linemen, he needs a quarterback with the most escapability. That would be Demetrius. He ran track relays for me all four years over here.''
Spurlock, who lives in Valparaiso, gave serious consideration to making the 66-mile drive to the Golden Dome to watch the first half of Saturday's game.
But with No. 17 Morgan Park facing No. 16 Richards 7 p.m. Saturday at Gately Stadium, Spurlock figured he wouldn't have enough time to properly prepare for the Bulldogs
