Nice post, IK - thanks for the info. So much for the "let's use up all the available scholarships and send the fifth-years packing" strategy, eh?
if anybody has a irish illustrated account go on the message board, blanton's stepfather gives some insight to what might have happened with j.brown.
i've been out for a couples, so did jbrown actually visit campus?
No. Apparently he was told there wasn't enough space for him.
Seroiously? I'm pretty suprised if thats true. Go irish!
Staff told him to wait. Surprised? I was.
The staff in no way, shape or form asked Jeremy "Not" to come...PERIOD. Come on guys, unless you have cold hard facts, let's not throw any old theory out there just to see what sticks.
The staff did NOT tell Brown not to come. And if they did, that would be awful Urban Meyer of them. Let's not spread that kind of crap about our staff. Brown has an offer. If he wanted to jump on board today, he could. ND doesn't recruit that way.
Keep in mind he had bought a plane ticket. It would be in no way ethical for the staff to ask him to eat that ticket. Trust me...that's not what happened.
This was a Brown family decision, not a Notre Dame decision. Reading between the lines, Brown is still interested in ND, but is not the lock we thought he was. I would not be surprised to see him end up closer to home.
My apologies; I was unaware that this was still speculative. I take back my silly attempts to feign at being in the know.
From Scooper, on GH:
Sounds reasonable to me. Anyone else got thoughts on this?
Pressure from who? Why do people care so much what Joe Shmo wants them to go? His dad was on the ND bandwagon so he's obviously listening to just the crazy locals.
im sure some people have stated to mention it, but i believe we lost jbrown. only jbrown and CW know the real story of what happened this weekend, but im pretty sure if he really wanted to attend ND and be a part of the irish, he would have been there this past week and we would have heard a commit from him. its tough to get kids to leave the state of florida. the climate is great, they have "great" football programs in state they can attend, and most of the time they don't need to go to class. its not the end the of the world that we didnt pick him up, we have floyd, baldwin, robinson, and a couple others to get excited about. lets move on. go irish!
Agreed. If we did lose him then oh well. We have a dynamic class as is and I would only hope the best for him. We will pick up more studs in the near future.
He still could have come and commited if he wanted to. It was his choice not to come, not the ND coaching staff.
----People have told me that have premium to other places that Jeremy was told to hold off on his visit by Weis. Where did you hear that Jeremy did in fact cancel it because family pressure?
Jeremy Brown has made it official from his end. He is no longer considering ND because South Bend is too far from his family. His final four are UNC, Georgia, Auburn, and of course the Gators.
Ok, now that this is officially over, Jeremy is probably trying to save a little face, which is fine, and he did it the correct way, no ND bashing on his part. So let's reciprocate by having no bashing of him at this end. By all accounts Jeremy is a great kid, this is no loud mouthed Flying Burritto.
