Yup, Rasmussen was thrown off his team today for lying about his whereabouts during June. Said he was in Mexico but he was really in Italy. His stories have been a little shady for a while now.
Riders have to provide written schedules of where they are 24/7/365 so they can be available for random doping tests. Rasmussen not only failed to turn in paperwork on several occasions, he is very cagey about where he trains and tends to train in neutral colors rather than his team uniform. And right now they are testing the shit out of all these guys. Christian Vande Velde describes his doping test schedule:
"But the controls are working and there are many. I have been controlled on 13 different occasions this year from our team alone. They look for everything from blood transfusions, EPO, testosterone, HGH, reticulocytes... you name it. Then on top of that I have been controlled at races randomly a few times and by USADA at least three times at my home. That brings me up to about 20 times this year, so I have given my fair share of bodily fluid for the sport."
