I thought I would start an interesting thread about what everyone's most memorable ND football moment has been. For me, both involve games against FSU during the 90's. The first one was, I believe, in 93 when we played them #1 vs. #2 and the noles came into south bend in one of the most hyped games ever. Watching ND thrash FSU made me feel overjoyed because I absolutely can't stand Bobby Bowden.

The next game was in either 96 or 97 when we played them in the Orange Bowl and we beat them in florida on an awesome performance by either Derrick Mayes or Lake Dawson. I believe that was actually our last bowl victory.

First time going to a game in south bend, just the most magnificant experience ever, the grotto, basilica, TD jesus, golden dome, ND stadium, the band, the book store, everything about the game, unfortunately they lost to MSU and it was the first game after 9/11... but the overall experience was like no other..

Legends in the making:

#1A : 1979 Cotton Bowl, Joe Montana, in his last college game, fights off hypothermia in the ice and wind in Dallas. After being fed bouillon during the second half to get his temperature back near normal, he leads Notre Dame from a 34-12 deficit to a 35-34 victory in the final 7:37, throwing a perfect pass to Kris Haines for a touchdown with no time remaining.

#1B: Ann Arbor, Sept 1999, Tom Brady flashes his future mastery of the 4th quarter by leading Michigan to a 26-22 come from behind win.

1987 was my first Notre Dame game. I was 10 years old and it was a night game against Michigan State. The first time I step foot on campus (even at 10 years old) I came to tears. There was this certin aura about the place. The smell of wet leaves, hot burning charcoal and the cool breeze that whistled through the large trees of autumn whispering the the four hoursemans names. It was great. Tim Brown ran back 2 punt returns for touchdowns in an Irish route of Michigan State. That's my most memorable moment. I was also at the Notre Dame Vs. Penn State in the "SnowBowl". I was right in the corner where Reggie Brooks caught the 2 point conversion. (about 5 rows up) What a game. That was my 2nd most memorable moment.

The Snow Bowl game was my last game as a student, and it was memorable for the drama, the snow, and the euphoria in the Senior section when we won.

I also think back to the 29-20 win over Miami in 1990. How I hated Miami, and how sweet it was to beat them. Rocket had a huge game, if memory serves. We had special "the Shirts" just for that game: navy blue with the two helments. After the game, the university sold out of the exact same shirt with the score printed underneath the helmets.

Finally, the ND-Michigan game in 1990. Mirer's first start, and he leads us from behind to beat UM 28-24.

How about when backup Pat Dillingham threw the Touchdown to Arnez Battle vs. Michigan State? With ND down late in the game and facing a defeat from an unranked team, Dillingham threw a strike to Battle who ran the distance and made the game in the Irish favor. Which then turned into an ND win and great great comeback.

The second game was following the 1995 season in the '96 Orange Bowl; Derrick Mayes did have a great game however opposed to what you think we lost the game to Florida State. Our last bowl victory was the 1994 Cotton Bowl following the 1993 season, Lake Dawson did play in that game...but did not turn in a huge night stat wise.

I would say almost the whole 1988 season, that is cheating, I know you said "moment", but that was a kick ass season. It was ND's last national title, officially (we all know they got screwed by everyone in '93, the ND haters got their wish and Shitface #2 got a pity championship, but I digress) But the great game against Michigan that year, the greatest game in ND history against Miami with the failed 2 point conversion and that ass whoopin they put on in the Fiesta Bowl against WV to win the title was a just fun to watch. But like Tommy said, there are a ton of memoriable moments when it comes to ND football, hard to mention just one.

nothing is personal on this board.. :)

I've posted it twice. Once in the fathers day thread, another had something to do with how you became and Irish fan. I'm busy watching Inside ND football right now (It's a commercial) and don't feel like searching. Maybe when it's over.

My first irish game was that 98 holloween baylor game.........remember that awful halfback pass they ran that got picked (as if trickery was needed to beat baylor)........i always thought jim colletto (the offensive coordinator that year) was a horrible offensive coordinator.........anyhow mine would be that crazy comeback the irish had against usc at home one year i forget which one.........jarious jackson was the qb and they came back from way down in crap weather that seemed to shift to bad when sc had the ball........jabari holloway recovered a jackson fumble in the endzone on the game winning td...........I think that may be the last time we beat sc?? is it??

Rocket...Orange Bowl vs. Colorado...the return late for the lead and the win, but called back on the phantom clipping. I was about at the game, 9 or 10 years old, with the whole family. It was the happiest moment of my life turned to the worst moment. It still ranks up there. Sometimes the downs are more memorable, especially in person. But on the upside, look at where CO is now. : )

there are way too many to pick one.

first game in the student section (last week), last years USC game (in a bad way), the 2002 MSU game, 1993 FSU game (very vague), 2000 Nebraska, 1999 USC game, I could go on forever. There've been so many of them.

No, we beat USC 27-16 if I recall correctly at home in 2001 with Carson Palmer under center. That was the last time the Irish beat the Men of Troy.

Football: Mine would be either beating Michigan two years ago (my first game as a student) or talking to Brady after Ty got fired

Notre Dame in general: Acceptance letter or first day on campus with family

Miami 88. WVU 01/01/89

I enjoyed the 1993 Florida State game for 7 days. Then it suddenly became just another game.

Beating PSU in '92 on a two-point play to Reggie Brooks leaving only seconds remaining on the clock...tied for first place is ND kicking PSU in the teeth last Saturday. Second place is ND beating the FSU Noles in '93.
