Ok guys, per Stoney's request who's going to be ND's starting QB at the begging of the season?

I made Sharpley the favorite because of Clausen's arm surgery, and Jones gave Jones the biggest odds because of inconsistancy to this point.

I think it comes down to ES starting and JC coming in later on in the year. Game 6 is a good guess BUT what if ND is 4 - 1 or 5 - 0, How do you take out ES and put in JC. Also if ND is 0-2 or 1 - 2, do you pull ES and go with JC ?

Demetrius Jones baby. I love this kid and I really think he will be the starter at some point. He's got great mobility and I think he can make some big plays ala Kevin McDougal?????

Im going with Clausen just because he is a "10 year prospect". He has enough experience as the rest do and maturity? He is just as old as Sharpley.

sharpley has more experience because has been in Charlie's system now for two years. He also had to learn a lot from Quinn as he watched him run the team the last two years. The only way I see Clausen starting game one, is if he comes back from this surgery with an arm that blows the other two guys out of the water. I'm not ruling that out either because his film shows he has the potential to do that. Let's not forget that nobody outside of the Irish coaching staff has seen Clausen throw more than a ten yard out since the Army All American Game. There is something to that and it is not that Charlie is going to run the ball 783.5 times per game. The Scientist is doing work.

I have to agree with NotreDame OurMother, I think Jones would be a lot like McDougal. That's never a bad thing. Clausen's surgery was pretty minor, should be a quick recovery. Either way with the stable of rb's, whoever it is won't have to win games all by their lonesome

I'm going to have to disagree. From what I've gathered about DD, he is oozing with raw ability and talent, but makes poor decisions and struggles somewhat with consistent accuracy. McDougal was not the most talented player ever, but he NEVER made bad decisions. His high football IQ and common sense made him an efficient quarterback. He always knew where to throw the ball, and more importantly, where not to throw the ball. DD, on the other hand, forced a few passes in the spring game, one that got picked off.

I am in no way saying that Jones is a bad quarterback, simply that I do not agree with the comparison to McDougal.
