He tells the two front-runners who they are at the end of May. It's unclear whether he tells everyone outside of ND.

I'm with ya there stonebreaker. I doubt Charlie wants to announce his starting quarterback so early. So much could happen over the summer and the practices before the season. The only way I could see this happening is if Charlie wanted to create some sort of unfixed depth chart so players could start to get comfortable with who they think has the best chance of starting come September 1st.

I think he wants to announce so soon so the "two" to get as many reps as possible with offense, instead of splittling the reps 4 ways. It would also allow the two on the outside a chance to transfer if they so choose (not saying anyone will) and not spend the upcoming season on the bench, buried in the depth chart.

After Weis and the coaching staff are done with the recruiting travels, then are going to review the film. After reviewing the film, Weis said he should have it down to 2 QBs that are the front runner.
