This kid called Charlie for an offer....problably for the same reason Habern did, don't fool yourself he doesn't care about ND.
Ok- ND probably has about a 0% shot at Shugarts, but let's not go overboard. Shugarts did not call CW to ask him to offer him. Do you really believe that CW would offer a guy because he asked. If he did ND23 would have received an offer this week.

I know where you got that from IK1023, but you only saw half of the story. Shugarts was calling CW
back after he was told by his Coach that CW had called to offer him. His call back was no different than Mike Golic Jr.'s call back from Italy when he was offered.
It appears to me that the staff is in the process of offering quite a few guys right now like Shugarts who by the conventional wisdom were already locks with another school. These ND offers are coming a few weeks after these guys have been offered by their "lock" school, and still did not commit. Fauria & Page are somewhat in this category, and now one is considered to be an ND lean, and the other has ND as one of his favorites. Two other prime examples of this are Omar Hunter (Michigan) & Marcus Forston (Miami). Neither one of these guys has committed to their lock school, and Forston at least is planning an Official Visit to South Bend in the fall. It seems like a sound strategy to me, don't waste an offer on a guy who looks like he is going to commit to his "lock" school when offered, but if he does not commit, and the guy is a blue-chip recruit like everyone in this group, you have nothing to lose by making the offer. It's the old, throw shit on the wall, and see if it sticks theory. Now granted, Shugarts has probably the least chance of anything sticking, but you have nothing to lose by hurling the offer, and everything to gain, e.g. interest from Fauria, Page, & Forston.
