The Benefits of Becoming an Illegal Alien

Listed below is the text of an actual letter sent to Iowa Sen. Thomas Harkin regarding a recent bill passed in the Senate with reference to immigration reform. To be honest, I have not paid much attention to this, or much of anything else that goes on in our Capitol, because like a lot of people that I know, it is tiresome to hear nothing but taunts at each other from both sides, with no compromise, and very little accomplishment. Therefore, I do not pretend to know whether all of the points this guy is making are valid, but if they are, all I can say is, these guys in D.C. are even more out of control than I thought they were, and if it is true, then maybe I should start paying attention again. Those of you who are more well informed on this subject, please enlighten me.

__________________________________________________________________________
The Honorable Tom Harkin
731 Hart Senate Office Building
Phone (202) 224 3254
Washington DC , 20510

Dear Senator Harkin,

As a native Iowan and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the Department of Homeland Security in an effort to determine the process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.

My primary reason for wishing to change my status from U.S. Citizen to illegal alien stems from the bill which was recently passed by the Senate and for which you voted. If my understanding of this bill's provisions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United States for five years, all I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a $2,000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years. I know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the process started before everyone figures it out.

Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay taxes every year so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can apply to be illegal retroactively? This would yield an excellent result for me and my family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005.

Additionally, as an illegal alien I could begin using the local emergency room as my primary health care provider. Once I have stopped paying premiums for medical insurance, my accountant figures I could save almost $10,000 a year.

Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my daughter would receive preferential treatment relative to her law school applications, as well as "in state" tuition rates for many colleges throughout the United States for my son.

Lastly, I understand that illegal status would relieve me of the burden of renewing my driver's license and making those burdensome car insurance premiums. This is very important to me given that I still have college age children driving my car.

If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I would be most appreciative. Thank you for your assistance.

Your Loyal Constituent,
Donald Ruppert

Living right out side of NYC, Newark, Paterson, and Hackensack, I see plenty of illegals everyday. My neighbor openly admits hiring illegals as garderners

and yes they absolutely are... if I were illegal I would have beaten my cancer by now (proper care)... graduated with my degree by now (proper fin aid)... my family would not have lost our Roter Rooter Fran. in the early 90's (proper buisness loans/ the Fran went to... you guessed it... and they still own it to this day)... My sister would be healthy (see point one)... but lets keep giving handouts to EVERYONE but hardworking americans... and when those who pick up the bill need help, lets keep giving them the finger... again, I'm no GOP member, but I can never bring myself to vote Demo. b/c shit like this... and they have the nerve to say they are for the common american

that's my two cents... now back to the fun loving laid back ACamp... :)

I have to find myself defending dems again, even though I'm not one. Acamp, this bill was basically passed by one man, McCain, he's the one that pushed for amnesty and that is what you are getting. Which is the main reason I can't vote for him. This letter is addressed to Harkin becuase in this case he is his senator to write to, thus signed Your Loyal Constituent.

While I dispise McCain for this, it is not all on him. 95% of our officials in DC, in the House and Senate, can be accused of lacking a backbone when it comes to this subject.

good point, actually. Everybody is afraid to rock the Mexican vote boat.

McCain was the most vocal, or maybe he got the most press.

I really liked him until this and then falwell supported him so that is two really, really, big whammies.

Guilianni is leading the polls now so he is my leader for now, Hillary is out, Obama is an enigma to me so I need to solve it before I pass judgment, same with Romney.

my buddies out in arizona have nothing, absolutely nothing good to say about McCain.

I respect his service to his country, but when you see what has happened to Arizona and what the illegals have done to that state, and California, and in my old home town which is now over 70% hispanic, and mostly illegals, it is sad man.

Not that they are all bad, but just sign the f'n book on your way over. My ancestors, did it, it isn't hard.

Don't worry everyone, we're gonna build a fence.

No... we won't Demos are already finding ways to pull funding for it

Yeah, Bush's complete non-interest in the subject from an American perspective pisses me off too... but it's more than fair to say Demos got us where we are, which they did... so there you have it

I think those that know me know where I stand politically, so I will say that both sides are at fault when it comes to this subject. They have been ducking this issue for the last 20 or so years, even the great Ronald Reagan offered up amnesty to them back when he was the president. When I was stationed at Camp Pendleton and we would be out in the field we would catch them sneaking over every damn night, its pathetic!

I have to say that this avatar is my fav over the animated ones even.

I'm a small fan of porn.

Latte.... Did you miss the 1990's (or the last century in this country for that matter)?... I was here for it, I assume you were too... Its their BS exploitation of the American working class that made this country so desirable to illegals to begin with... they get it free and we pick up the bill; health care, housing, food, schooling... and yes I understand the political "roles" if you will are shifting with the times currently but the climate was created by their philosophies and their work on behalf of Unions aboard and other plays for power (tax dollars)...

Now their "solution" to the problem is writing up “reforms” that are dictated by Mexican officials and consulates... this after they collectively only recently admitted immigration was even a problem top begin with…. and again they have the nerve to call themselves the “peoples party”, living in a liberal state and seeing first hand how much their views and legislation are meant to do nothing but exploit the American people, nothing burns me more…

Ditto. It's a national security AND maintaining national wealth issue. For all those who bash conservatives (and there's reason to on immigration), at least we don't want to allow them to vote and have driver's licenses. What the hell is that about!!!! Both sides need to solve the problem, not just pander. I'm tired of seeing spanish signs, which of course makes me intolerant.
Perhaps if we give them California, they will leave the other 48 contiguous states alone!

Anyone hear about the Bank of AMERICA debacle here in So Cal...?

4/5 signs inside now in spanish, openly giving home and business loans to known illegals... can not work there without Spanish speaking ability...

American clients leaving in droves... all the while zero intervention from any government offical... if they were a locally owned mom and pop setup, the owners would be in rpison at this point... sickens me...

Bank of AMERICA!!!!

LOL, that was hilarious, and yet saldly so true! There are many Illegal Aliens in nothern Indiana as well, and it really ticks me off when I know that they are taking up jobs that native americans need. Many just buy a Puerto Rican birth certificate and SS# for around $400 for the set, and they justify it by complaining that the legal way to enter our country is to hard, and it takes too long. Then there are some that brag about being here illegaly, think that we should learn Spanish instead of them learning English, or then their are the ones that have a bad attitude about America. If they think it sucks so bad up here then why don't they just go back where they came from.

It's fine with me if you want to come to our country as long as you do it the right way, and have a good attitude about it, but for all of those that don't they need to be shiped out, and the businesses that hire them need to be fired heavily!

At one of my previous jobs they wouldn't let me transfer into a department that needed help because I DIDN'T SPEAK SPANISH! HELLO, isn't there only one national language in this country?! The founding fathers only wanted one national language for a reason, and English only managed to beat out German by one or two votes if memory serves me correctly. That business also started offering Spanish calsses to tried to put pressure on the English speaking people to take them instead of offering English classes to the Spanish speaking people.

I always liked…

“America.... love it, or leave it!”

I feel worst for the common American Hispanic in this country who gets thrown in with these lowlifes... my ex's family constantly got shit from illegals for not speaking Spanish and not having a Mexican flag on their car... see that shit all the time... the complete lack of respect is unreal... but it was their country to being with... right??... Again liberal philosophies... last I checked not ONE government or ruling people in the world oversees the same land they did at the onset of civilization... EVERYTHING has been stolen at this point... deal with it... yet it’s only a valid argument in this case??? Man thread this is ruining my day/mood... I'm done with this crap... back to football for me

Elsa's pics have been moved to "Hot or Not" 3/28/07

The sweetest irony is that if our southern border was as secure as Mexico's southern border, nary an illegal would make it to the U.S.A.

Live's in Englewood, just yesterday I saw a big construction project going on in the city. I didn't see no one with safety equipment, not even a hard hat. It the company's who save's money on Insurance and cheap labor is the problem's. Right smack in the middle of the city and no one notice this. I don't think so!!!!!!

I take it that Elsa Benetiz doesn't eat a whole lot of Mexican food. You don't find too many hot Mexican chicks over 20.

I don't blame businesses for trying to save a buck (although it needs to stop), I blame politicians for playing games with too darn many important issues like this.

They threw that book away a long time ago, which is the reason they come over illegally. Most of the people that come over would do it legally if given the chance, but they've made it extremely diffcult to do, then you add the money it involves to get lawyer and for the tons of fees.

When it comes down to it, big business wants it that way because if the 12-13 millions of illegals were actually legal, they would have to pay them fair market value.

why is illegal immigration viewed as a supply side issue, yet illegal drug trafficking is a demand side issue (look at who is vilified in each scenario)? i'd have to guess it is due to who has the most juice with government officials. our government encourages drug production abroad in some cases (see Afghanistan) but enforces drug laws against users. when it comes to immigration, fat cat businessmen who contribute to politicians create the demand for low wage workers, but we go after the supply of workers. why is no one screaming bloody murder about the businesses employing people illegally, thus driving down the living wage for everyone? i am in no way shape or form condoning either illegal activity, just wondering why the disparity in perspective and action.

Yea, that was a LITTLE bit too general. My apologies to all who were offended. Perhaps I've seen a disproportionate amount that just happened to be big-boned.

Actually, I hear it all the time. Hannity has been critical of all administrations who had a lax attitude toward immigration. He has said there is a need to control the border and go after businesses who break the law. O'Reilly has said the same thing. We need to stop throwing stones at each other and enforce the laws, and protect our borders!!
Personally I say that we build a fence, place national guard at the borders, and arrest CEO's who violate federal and state laws. How's that for consistency.

I don't see how our govt. encourages drug production. Afghanistan IS an independent government who is deciding its own future. Plus, if we heavy handed them into stopping all production (which is impossible), the economy would tank even worse. Giving the enemy goodwill by default.

My personal views on immigration:.

1) if you cant speak English, access denied.
2) if you cant contribute to society, access dendied.

I think our for-fathers would gasp at those but times have changed.

But there is no-way blame should be placed solely on either party. I agree with Marv and co.
