... 50 years experience watching ND's recruiting process counts for something!

Then you know that ND Academics play a keen role in which prospects get an offer. I don't the academic history of either one of them but they are just entering the 2nd semester of their JUNIOR year. Are they taking the core courses ND requires for admission? IF they're lacking in the math courses, have they modified their schedules for the last 3 semesters to comply with ND's requirements? Have they taken the ACT/SAT or even the PSAT and shown any semblance of being an ND STUDENT?

Meyer can offer anyone he wants including JUCOs. That's one of the prime reasons he's not ND's head coach. He knew he couldn't do that there.

ND has already offered quite a few juniors - for ND! But Charlie knows there are some kids he can't pursue because they lack the prerequisites or the interest like Hughes and Mullen exhibited to work harder to make up an academic deficit.

Is it possible the prospects you mentioned don't have a serious interest in ND and the coaches believe there are more likely ND candidates elsewhere?

The Echoes are Awake! Davie and Willingham aren't here anymore. ND recruiting hasn't been worked so hard since Vinny Cerrato left more than 15 years ago.

Juniors usually take the ACT in April, correct?

I've been out of high school for 11 years. Maybe juniors can take the test sooner now?

You can probably take the ACT/SAT etc. anytime you want. I don't think it has a min. age requirement.

Yes, I'm sure that's right. I took the SAT in sixth grade for a "gifted" program I was applying to ... did well enough to get into most colleges if I'd been 6-5 230, as a matter of fact!

Not really.

The test is administered a certain amount of times per year on certain specified dates. You can't just walk into the guidance counselor's office and grab a copy of the test to take whenever you feel like it.

At any rate, Ford appears to be leaning away from ND. And ND is looking at other RB.

Illinois recruiting has been rather quiet for the last four months. What happened to all of that momentum?

And what ever came of that private investigation into the recruiting irregularities and what not?

They have two verbals from the two Simeon players, Tez's Towel Boys.

---------I think this puts Iowa in a better position to land Wes Kemp too, another big Illinois target because Kemp and Ford are friends and would like to go to school together. Their two favorites from what I was hearing was Iowa and Illinois so this would make it even worse for Illinois now.

According to posters on the UofI scout free board Kemp will be announcing tomorrow, they are all presuming to Iowa to follow Ford. I 'm cheering for the Hawkeyes here!
