The Belleville West Maroons came down with a bad case of double vision Friday night during a 33-7 loss to Althoff.

The Crusaders running back tandem of Tommy Davis and Jason Ford combined for more than 340 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

Davis, who finished with 122 yards, broke loose on a 63-yard scoring run on the first play from scrimmage as Althoff took a 6-0 lead just 20 seconds into the contest.

"I don't think we were flat. -I think we may have been a little too emotionally high to start the game, and they broke a long one on us early," West coach Dennis Snep said. "It was important that we get off to a good start, and we didn't do that."

Davis added an 11-yard run in the second quarter to put Althoff up 12-0 before Ford took over the offensive load. The junior all-stater broke a 12-yard run late in the second quarter before putting the game away with scoring runs of 38 and 21 yards in the third quarter. Ford finished with 214 yards and three touchdowns. He did not play in the fourth quarter.

Right now, some consider Ford the best junior in Illinois. Both on offense and overall. He and Filer are the top dogs heading into the spring.

Ford has offers from Kansas and Kansas State.

If ND offers, they could be the early favorite for him. He grew up an ND fan and intends to stay close to home.

Wow Jigg, u're just full of info today. Much appreciated and keep the info coming along. It definitely sounds like Illinois has some big time recruits this year so it'll be a big battle between ND and UofI (wow, i never thought I'd say that :p)

Illinois will have another terrible year, Zook won't be able to sell himself as good as he did this year and CB will clean house in Illinois and take everybody. That includes offense and defense. If you don't beleive me like at Hughes

The coaches from IL respect CB more than they do Zook, and they might tell their kids that CB is a stand up guy and he will make you the best person you can be on and off the football field. He is from the same area and he is a great person to model your life after.

from what i've been seeing and hearing he appears to be an Irish lean and i feel confertable about CB closing the deal on this kid sooner than later

I love that Western PA and Chicago are becoming the base for the Irish.

Pull the studs and "glue guys" from these areas, and then go national and pull the 5*'s to South Bend. Sounds like the way things will be done from now on.

Uhh you guys need serious geography lessons. Belleville is about six hours away from Chicago. It is a suburb of St. Louis and is more Missouri. I don't think CB will have quite the effect in St. Louis that he will in Chicago.

Don't you know that if the town is in Illinois, it must be a suburb of Chicago.

I bet your right. I was also thinking along those lines. I think he would have been offerred by now if he was a top choice. I bet the coaches told him that he would get an offer if it opened up and that's probably not sitting well with him.

well you have to look at it like this. ND is probably taking 2 RB's at the most. That being the case 2 RB's have already been offered. Ryan Williams and Sam McGuffie (who also could play slot Reciver though). So I think Ford would have to wait and that is why he isn't looking at ND, that being said if offered I think he would look at ND still.

Did the visits to the Michigan game in September and Junior Day on January 27th somehow sour him already?

Can you guys clarify something for me, I know this may be a dumb question...........

Is there a limit of official offers that can be out at any given time? Does the NCAA monitor this or is the risk that too many offer out mean the university would have to honor everyone if they were accepted? Would appreciate anyone's insight on this...

When i get the interview back (if i get it back, you never know sometimes), ill have that question answered, but from what i can guess its mainly competition. that "mainly competition" quote is just a guess, so dont put much faith into it until i hear it from Jason

Limit on offers? None. Mississippi must send out about 200. Schools can only accept 25 in a "Class Year".

Most schools rescind offers as they fill up at a position. Some schools rescind offers on recruits that have given a Verbal Commitment so they can take a "better" prospect. They only have to honor Signed Letters of Intent.

Got it, thanks BGIF.

Wake up the echoes and the coaching staff! Can somebody tell me why Kris Johnston and JB Shugarts have not been offered scholarships. We played the waiting game last year and lost some recruits because of it. When FL coach Meyers makes a recruit his personal project, don't you think ND should be interested enough to not only look at the kid but make an offer also. I do...but then, what do I know about coaching. Nothing, but 50 years experience watching ND's recruiting process counts for something!
