I ask this because I just started to work out again after a 2 year hietus sp? from my high school football routine. I work out Mon-Thurs about an hour and a half a day. I usually only do the upper body. Anyways I was wondering if anybody has some good workouts that has worked for them that I could try. Another thing, I went from weighing 170 to 188 in a matter of a month and a half just by eating protein bars. I didn't think I'd gain that much weight! Is that normal? I mean its not fat so I hope its muscle! Another thing that is annoying me is that my shoulder muscle will not stop twitching, its doesn't hurt but its bugging the hell out of me! Thanks for any help, sorry I haven't posted in a while, this college shit sux!

LEAN protein is the way to go, stretch alot before working out, that is where the twitching is probably coming from, and always end with a light cardio cool down. Whether it is light jogging on the tread mill, bike, whatever..this will keep you from losing flexiblity

I think the twitch in your shoulder is a muscle spasm. Spasms usually take a while to work themselves out. I think if you push where the muscle is twitching it will help it stop. As far as working out, I do 30 min of cardio, then weights for about an hour. To get really good definition on your muscles, use different work outs for the same part of your body. For instance, I work lower back, then a seated row, and then a lat. pull down, It will help build muscle faster. And don't forget to work out your legs!

I work out 6 days a week taking off on sundays of course. Weight training mon-wed-fri, and i run a couple of miles everyday. Good to mix up your cardio routine too. Bike, boxing and i just started to play raquetball, it's awesome! As far as nutrition goes, i mainly eat fruit for breakfast, a salad for lunch and then for dinner, a protein( chicken, fish, red meat) and a vegatable. I also mix in a met-rx shake in place of a meal every now and then. If you're serious about lifting, you should keep a journal updating your progress.

I just started working out again recently. Weights 45min 3 times a week, and cardio 6 days a week, alternating between treadmill and exercise bike. I usually take saturdays off. I'm still working on the diet and cutting down on the booze.....

Nice call on the journal. I love playing raquetball, my college has a couple of courts and I played for the first time this year and I loved it. Its a great workout rather than just running. I definetly need to get some fruit, I've been eating some apples but not everyday. I eat the Met-rx protein bars before my workout and they've helped me gain almost 20 pounds in less than 2 months. I also did creatine in high school when I played football, it helped me gain a bunch of weight but I'm just doin strictly protein now.

You'll most likely gain weight as you age. I wouldnt bother trying to when you are young. I went from 170 to 195 (6ft frame), in my first 2 years in college from heavy lifting. Now, 220 or so, I've been as high as 235. Stick to lean meats, vegetables, and don't worry about gaining weight...
