Boulevard started distributing to AZ (I have had many of their beers when I lived in CA) so I grabbed one I hadn't had before.

Boulevard Heavy Lifting IPA. Very piney with lots of citrus rind bitterness. I am drinking it from the can but it is enjoyable if a little simple. I will probably grab some more to try it properly in an IPA glass and a pint glass. Overall solid.

Victory 20th anniversary experimental IPA.

Initial impression is that it is just ok.

Have you discussed your reaction to this? I liked it quite a bit but hard to come by here.

I have not.

I found it interesting. I actually liked the chili pepper (and I normally don't like chili pepper in my beer) and the cocoa and coffee were nice. The cinnamon was ok (and I couldn't taste the vanilla) but the nutmeg was really throwing me off. Not sure that I will buy again, though I might by another single and try to age it and see how it changes.

Out here they were out of it for a while and then this past week they got another large shipment in of it.

Stone Depth-charged Double Bastard. It is Double Bastard brewed with espresso roasted coffee beans.

Coffee, caramel, nuts (almonds), vanilla, and slight citrus and pine hops. A little floralness as well. A really intersecting beer but it isn't as good as the standard Double Bastard.

Hmm. I don't even remember the nutmeg, but I'll have to try it again when I can get it.

Stone Enjoy By 12/25/15. Saying good-bye to Christmas 2015. It's still pretty good, even if I am a few weeks overdue. Red Chair should be about ready.

That seems like a rough order in which to have them.

I agree that Stone Enjoy By is drinkable after the date usually at least for a couple of weeks, though it is best fresh.

Red Chair - Deschutes.

Pours a nice amber color. Citrus (grapefruit? yes, but a sweet citrus, too, like orange) aroma, not as much on the taste. Good malt/hop balance, but more malt. You can smell the hops, but it's not hoppy by any means. Bitter aftertaste, but not at all unpleasant. Then later a malty taste. I'll need another one, but I think I like it.

I hadn't thought of that, but I was waiting on the Red Chair to chill. I ate some chili with the Enjoy By, so it worked out okay.

Josh Cellars 2013 Cab Sauv. Needs to open up more. Much more flavor and less of a chore to drink than most Cabs I have. Still can't hold a candle to the black rooster, but I'll give it some time to open.

Okay, saw a Lagunitas today that I'd never seen before: Undercover Investigation -- Strong Ale. Of course, I had to buy it. Any opinions?

Very solid beer. Lots of malt and rather sweet but it has some hops as well.

Should I have wine or beer tonight?

My vote is always wine unless you've had plenty recently. Since I never have that problem, wine is my go-to in that dilemma.

How was it?

The flavor was pretty similar to most quads that I've had, which surprised me after seeing the color. Lots of dark fruit and dates. Delicious, but just a pale comparison to Rochefort 10 (my favorite quad).

Speaking of quads though, Adelbert's released a new batch of whiskey barrel aged quadruppel. I'll definitely try some out and let everyone know my thoughts on it.

What did you think of it?

Damn delicious. I was shocked to smell coconut as soon as I opened the can. I can't recall a porter I enjoyed more. It tastes like a delcious chocolate coconut concoction. I'm assuming it can't age, correct?

Port City Monumental IPA. My kind of IPA. The hops are there but you don't get beaten over the head with them. I'll probably pay another visit to the brewery tomorrow and taste their latest.
