He did though, and that's why we are here talking about it. Chippy play is expected, but a guy deliberately trying to deliver the equivalent of a sucker punch is not. OBJ looked like a pampered brat doing that. Norman is far from innocent, but at least he had enough respect for his opponent not to purposely try to hurt them.

Norman never got flagged on the the first ODB Catch where Norman was driving his legs trying to re tackle ODB while hes trying to stand back up to get back to the huddle. That single play def got on ODB nerves. It happened right in front of the ref, the whistle was being blown, tt was complete BS that Norman didnt get a flag there. If he had, that may have been enough to make Norman dial it back just a enough that the game would have been alittle more under control. Very next ODB catch Norman tries to do the same thing, this time ODB grabs Normans leg and OBD get flagged. FUKIN BS!! Im not even a Giants Fan, but that shyte is BS. The refs let this get out of hand.

And I agree that his spear was horrible and he needs to be suspended for it. I'm bringing all of this up, bc I think the refs are utter shyte year after year, and this is just another example of when they botched another situation.

Big difference between getting into someones head and being dirty. For one nothing that Norman did could of affected the health of ODB. That is Normans game and if you look at what he has done to opposing WR's this season he is very good at it. ODB had the chance to shut him up early in the game but he dropped a wide open TD pass.

Remember these are grown men and they should be able to take a little trash talk, they shouldn't ever let it affect them so bad that they result to making helmet to helmet contact blindly from over 10 yards away.

I agree spear was awful. Just wish the refs would stop sucking a fat one. See my other post.

So why are we ignoring all of the chippy shit Norman did to OBJ in the first qtr after the whistle? Refs clearly messed up and let this get out of hand. There were 3 moments in the first qtr where Norman should have been flagged for and nothing happened. If OBJ didn't resort to the spear to Normans head, no one would even be talking this.

Because chippy is what we expected from both players. Nobody is giving OBJ a hard time about being chippy, nobody cares about that. OBJ taking it to that other level (trying to trip Norman after the play, helmet to helmet) is what gets him pointed out. That, and the fact that Norman's chippy play didn't cost his team like OBJ's penalties did.

Norman outplayed OBJ, both on the field, emotionally and psychologically. That's why no one is talking about the "chippy play" of Norman. lol

The very first drive, the first altercation between the two, Norman takes ODB AND slams him down to the ground for no reason. ODB literally did nothing. He is seen with his hands outstretched going, what the heck are you doing, and Norman just slams him to the gound. No flag is thrown. Why not? Its BS.

I understand as a pro athlete you are supposed to play through shit like that, but lets be honest, ODB is one of the anointed, NFL Diva, untouchables. They market him that way. So why didnt he get a flag there? If that was Edelman, the REFS would have had TOM Brady going postal up in the refs face and he prolly would have demanded that Norman should be kicked out of the league and forced to play in Canada. If that was Edelman, Brady would have somehow got Norman kicked out of the game. I guess I'm just so so sick and tired of the shyte refs in this league.

Fuck the Panthers and their fans. Bunch of whiny bitches.

Cant wait until they go 6-10 again and all their home games are filled with fans of the away team. Will never forget how loud the, "Lets Go Giants!" cheer was in their stadium 3 years ago.

Norman plays the tough guy, talking crazy shit to opponents and even ex-players, but Odell gets physical with him and he's disciplined.

They'll get theirs. No doubt in my mind.

You sound like a crybaby. ;)

I have no dog in the fight, but can tell you now that OBJ is the one that looks like a lil bitch in this scenario. He got completely used by Norman. Norman also is the best corner in the game. OBJ had probably his worst game of the year against him if you include the penalties into the equation. He was far from "disciplined" like you said. Only a Giants fan could watch that game and refer to OBJ as "disciplined" after. lol

Bad game for OBJ, but he still had 6 catches for 76 yards and a TD on 9 targets. I know those weren't all going up against Norman, but he did also torch him for a deep bomb TD that he dropped the first possession. The penalties made him look terrible. Take those away and he had 3 catches on 6 targets for a TD when matched up with Norman. I don't think he got "used." Take away the penalties and I'd say it was about a draw when they were matched up with one another.

I do agree though that he was not "disciplined" and clearly lost the battle when you take those penalties into account. Probably a push purely from a stats point of view.

You kind of answered yourself there. Sure, he beat him on the first play, but he DROPPED it. 40 of his 76 yards were on one long pass that wasn't against Norman. The penalties cost the Giants bigtime too, 3 of which were 15 yard unnecessary roughness penalties. Which means that he had more penalty yards then receiving yards against Norman.

If that isn't getting used, I dont know what is...

I meant disciplined as in he was punished for it.

I agree that when you take the penalties into account that their battle wasn't close. I'm just saying I didn't come out of that game thinking that Norman was and better than I thought he was or that Beckham was any worse. Just that Beckham has no composure.

Lifelong Giants fan here...soooo disappointed in Odell.
he needs to grow the f--- up.
nothing (not a pregame bat on the field, not any pre or in game smack talk) can ever justify/explain what he did.

i'm also (equally) disappointed that the entire giants team not one player (or coach!) had the leadership or the balls to tell him to cut the *&^% and just play football as this thing was escalating.

Coughlin is done...whether he makes the playoffs or not.

what a shame this episode will be the last memory of his time as coach.
