I'm going to have to agree with somewhere near 25 and also unranked next year.

In addition, I'm a bit mixed on that perception of the media setting ND up to fail. I think the media thought ND was the only team to have something they could bank on (with any knowledge of) in terms of what was returning this year.

USC had question marks at all the "playmaker" positions and Booty, Washington, and the entire, 4-deep WR corps proved that they were gonna keep things going even after the absense of Bush, Leinart, and the rest of the leadership.

Michigan was expected to be the same 7-5 Michigan team. Yeah, that happened.

Florida and LSU were going to be great on D and slightly above average on Offense. Again, they were stingy.

So to say ND was set up by the media would probably be going too far. But being set up by their own circumstances and general misconceptions by the media would explain this all away.

probably the best thing that could happen next year is for nd to be right outside the top 25. Don't put too much expectation on these kids that are going to be playing and maybe it might fire some of these kids up for not being ranked.

I am sorry if you cant see the competition between our NBC affiliates and ABC/ESPN.

Why just yesterday Schlaghbah(Sp.) on ESPn was saying that ND might have a chance and could be competitive....blah blah blah and today, front and center, he writes another article saying ND does not deserve to be a BCS team at all, and that we should be relegated to lower tier bowls. Plus with Mark may hating and others on ESPN.... i m sorry you cant see that.

I am not playing a boo hoo card, it was a simple statement. If you paid the least bit of attention form the preseason where BQ and ND were smeared over every publication imaginable, then after a tough game on the road in GT, ND is "not what we thought" and BQ slides almost off the Heisman list. If we were the media darlings, I would think it would take a lot more than just one game to cause that.

ND being relavent is good for football. If CW loses every game from here on out, ND wil lstill be a top story because that is what it is to be an icon. People will build you up on to tear you down with just as much fervor.

I'm in total agreement with goldendomer. At the start of the season when I saw the ranking, I said that the ND haters were getting a kick out of ranking the team #2. They were setting them up so other teams could smash them. I thought ND was a good #60 team. I still think they are a good #60.
