Quinn to Carolina?

Don't be surprised if the Panthers try to do something dramatic in the draft, like putting together a package to move up and take Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn with the No. 1 pick. The team is running out of patience with Jake Delhomme.

I saw that rumor on SI online...I guess Carolina would be better for Brady than Oakland. God forbid he goes first in the draft to Oakland.

that would be awesome for Brady... Quinn to Steve Smith. always better to come into the league with a competetive team than to be the first building block.

wow.... that made my day.

i am still rooting for Quinn to Tampa Bay b/c I would get to watch him on TV every week and would be close enough to go watch him play a few times a year.

but... Carolina picking up Quinn would be great too... great, competitive team.. not TOO far away... yeah, that would work too

I heard a rumor Chicago is going to trade up for Quinn. (This rumor is actually a dream in my head.) Seriously, I just hope he doesn't get stuck with Al Davis.

If Detroit gets the first pick in the draft, I'd find it hard to believe them passing him over. With Millen, you never know, though.

millen may feel the need to draft another WR since his 2 of the 3 he picked didnt pan out.

i think that Quinn to Carolina would be a good fit also if they were to pull the trigger on a trade to move up.

If it is Oakland he will suffer for sure.

I would love to see a horrible team with tons of holes trade the #1 pick for a couple of picks or player trade with a good team that needs a QB.

Don't even joke about Chicago trading up for Quinn...although, maybe if we start this rumor in enough places it might happen! Chicago needs Quinn!!!!

I would be the happiest man in the world if the bears traded up to get Brady......They would have to trade a ton I would think to move from around 30th to first though.

IT WOULD BE WORTH IT! It would be the smartest draft pick in Bears' history!

I would love for Brady to go to Carolina (or the Bears for that matter). But my question is, what will the panthers have to give up to get Brady? Do they have a draft pick from someone else coming in this draft

it would either have to be an established player who could help that team right away packaged with a couple later draft picks or a young player with huge upside along with some draft picks to move up to #1

I would rather see him go to Carolina or Chicago - then Det. or Oakland. I think he would do better in Carolina...especially with Steve Smith and Keyshawn Johnson.

Chicago could use him more than any other team. The fact that Bears' fans have to watch Grossman ( a Gator for the love of god) struggle through his first true season is very painful.

Without knowing who is going into free agency at the end of the year, I would guess it would be a very smart move for Da Bearsss to go for it. They are pretty solid all around (except under center) and could presumably trade up a ton of picks without leaving themselves screwed and, if needed, toss in a little mid-level talent.

End result: a nearly unbeatable team.

Cost: some draft picks that very likely wouldn't pan out anyway (and even if the did they wouldn't be nearly as impactful as a solid QB,) and possibly a mid-level player or two.

Why not?

Again, this is my take on it without knowing what all they'll be losing to free agency.

I think that this would be a big mistake. This is not the year to trade up. This years draft is weak. BQ is a good QB. He is the the best QB coming out this year. But I don't see him as worth trading up for. He's not Carsion Palmer or Peyton Manning. Honestly, I see him having a Rick Mirer type career. If you recall, Mirer was the 2nd overall pick in the 93 draft but never made big strides as a pro.

I think Quinn is as good as Palmer or Manning (the good one) were in college. Mirer was not groomed in a pro-style offense either. Though not entirely comparable, Mirer threw 38tds in his ND career, BQ has 35 THIS SEASON with a game to go.

Weis and Fox are very close friends, so maybe he's telling Fox to take a real hard look at Quinn...

BQ has gaudy stats...a product of an easy schedule for 2 years and a good offensive scheme. But when you look at his numbers in big games or against good defenses(Michigan, Oho St, USC, even GT), he doesn't look nearly as impressive. And how many of his TD passes were simply toss up passes thrown to athletic receivers? That play doesn't work as well in the NFL.

He has potential to be a good pro, but I don't see it being "a given".

This is one of the more ignorant posts I've seen on here in a while. Try reading this: http://bluegraysky.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_bluegraysky_archive.html#116576835367811511

Did you know BQ's lowest stat games for passes and yardage were: drumroll please!......Army and Air Force! The two games he gets slammed the most for! NOT Mich and USC scumbags of world! Don't believe the anti-hype, Quinn is a damn fine qb.
