Report: Miami to name Shannon head coach
FOXSports.com

The University of Miami will promote defensive coordinator Randy Shannon to head coach, the Miami Herald reported Thursday night.

The report, citing a well-placed university source, indicated that Shannon has accepted the position, and that an annoucement would be made on Friday. Shannon, 40, would become the sixth black head coach in Division I football, and would replace Larry Coker, who was fired last month after six seasons. Miami had pursued Rutgers coach Greg Schiano for the job, but Schiano, a former Miami assistant coach, opted to remain at Rutgers.

Well deserved. He is a great recruiter and great defensive mind. It'll really be interesting to see who he brings in as his assistants, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

kind of a no brainer, it was their only way of not losing him unless he was willing to be Kosar's D Coordinator. I still don't understand what made Bernie think he was qualified.

I would have rather seen they hired Molly Shannon, I enjoy watching Miami struggle.

Or Shannon Doherty. She has more of the attitude, temperment and class that Dah U is known for. Plus, no one likes a fight more than Shannon Doherty.
