Good post Lax. Just imagine if we did all that AND didn't unleash our war machine needlessly and with such frequency. Then, there would be no room to question that we make the world better. While I can consider your points and reach the same conclusions you have, I'm not sure that many across this planet share that perspective.

Playing devils advocate, one could say things could be worse if we hadn't.

Not sure why that's embarrassing. Battles can be lost while wars still won.

Shit happens. How many times have we hacked the Kremlin? Ohh, that's right, we don't know because smart guys wouldn't advertise that they were successful...

I can't agree with this. I can't name a better time to be alive in Europe, Asia, Australia/Oceania, or the Americas than in this Pax Americana. Even in Africa, American aid has been indispensable.

Yeah we've definitely fucked things up in the Middle East and supported a shameful amount of dictators around the world, but I think it'd be tough to argue that American dominance hasn't been a net positive for the world.

Actually, the more entwined Mexico has become with the US the worse off it has become. It is definitely worse off now for the average Mexican than it was say 30 years ago. It's also much more unstable, chaotic and violent than it was pre NAFTA. The drug cartels there were a good 10 years ahead of Isis in the beheadings game. Anyhow, I also do not think the rest of Central and South America have benifited much from American dominance. In fact US policy in those regions set many of those countries back decades in terms of economic and political development and the recent resurgence of many of those countries is related to them giving Uncle Sam the finger.
