Local Detroit radio (1270 AM WXYT) was reporting today that someone very high up in the Michigan athletic department stated that they've been in contact with the Rose Bowl and the Rose Bowl is seriously considering taking ND to play LSU, instead of Michigan against LSU. The reason is that this would be Michigan's 3rd trip to the Rose Bowl in 4 years and that they'd like to mix things up. They are concerned that Michigan fans wouldn't travel well since they've been to Pasadena a couple of times over the last few years. In addition, the Orange Bowl supposedly is really trying to get Michigan. According to the two 1270 AM radio hosts, this is someone that you can trust and they would not normally run with a "rumor," but this source is so high up that you can believe it. They didn't say who the source was, but it has to either be the AD or very close to the AD. They said nothing is set in stone and a lot of discussions are still on-going, but the Rose Bowl is seriously looking for someone new.

If they play Florida, they'd better jam that Dallas Baker at the line and bracket him in some type of coverage that will not allow him to get free.

FSU kind of figured out the Tebow To The Left genius play calling that is Urban Meyer. The kid is a homeschooled H-Back pretending to be a QB.

What high school did Tebow play for if he was home schooled? Did the family suit up mom, dad, Uncle Joe, Aunt Petunia, Cousin Larry, Grandma, Grandpa, 13 brothers & sisters and the family dog?

He played against other home schooled students, which admittedly is not a deep football talent pool. His performance in the game against Sally Mae Johnson is legendary.

Look at Tebow's numbers up until the LSU game.

Then look at them after, and don't count Western Carolina.

Give me Arkansa or Florida in a bowl before LSU, please.

Sally Mae Johnson was over-rated. Who did she play? Kenneth Noisewater? Please.

agreed. LSU has tons of talent. the only thing that holds them back from being among the top 3 elite teams is the lack of coaching. i think les miles is a terrible coach but excellent recruiter (much like phil fulmer). LSU is absolutely much more of a threat than florida or arkansas because of the sheer talent. last year, i told people that the only team i feared to play in a bowl game was OSU b/c of their speed. i feel the same about LSU this year.

LSU allowed 182 net yards to Auburn and lost 7-3.

They allowed 288 to Florida but the offense made 5 turnovers. Lost 23-10.

Their defensive speed plus Bo Pelini would make for serious concerns for ND's offense.

Do you think their offense has made considerable strides since then? I know Auburn and Florida have good defenses, but..... those are pretty pathetic points for having such talent.

I don't think ND hold them to 10. But I think it is realistic to say they could score less than 20. Then the only question becaomes, can we put up more than 20? (over simplifying things... I know).

Since Florida, their low was 23 points to Ole Miss.

LSU has very good skill people in Brossard, Vincent, Hester, Bowe, Craig Davis and Early Doucet that could cause the ND defense a lot of problems because of their speed.

Their defensive ranks:

Rushing Defense: 15th
Passing Efficiency: 3rd
Scoring Defense: 6th
Total Defense: 2nd

I hate to say this, but all signs point to it being ugly outcome that would not please us.

I still remember what they did to Miami lst year. I realize Miami wasn't that good, but they hammered them. Of those 3 teams, LSU would be the toughest game. Especially the way they have been playing lately.

I would think with those numbers, LSU's D would be the best ND has faced all season.

That includes scUM and SC.

I can't imagine the Rose Bowl commitee turning down scUM. I also doubt that a scUM-ND rematch is in the making. The Sugar would be great for ND against the SEC champ. I too believe that UF, though beatable, would present the biggest challenge to our D. I'd prefer to attempt to "contain" McFadden (can't STOP this guy) as opposed to the UF spread offense. Our offense can definitely play with these 2 teams.

I've watched LSU a lot this year, and I you are absolutely correct.

For the record, I hope y'all are coming to the Sugar Bowl to play FL-ARK.

Either team will provide a strong game against us.....FL passing, ARK running....but I would like our chances better against ARK.

To play the winner of the Florida/Arkansas conference championship. I've heard rumors that Notre Dame has already signed the contract to play in the game.

What do you guys think?

I think it's great.

1) It gives us some good regional exposure in the SEC broadcasting area.
2) We have a good shot at beating FL or ARK.
3) BCS attracts viewership and recruits
4) It's well earned and a nice change of venue

Yeah, I don't like the idea of playing LSU...I would much rather play FL or Ark. I think LSU poses the biggest problem for us...and frankly beating FL would look better.

The Boston Globe has the scoop: UM vs. LSU in the Rose, ND vs. SEC Champ in the Sugar. Orange Bowl is likely ACC - Big East, and Fiesta is Boise State - Big 12. All this, of course, assuming USC beats UCLA.

http://www.boston.com/sports/colleg...1/29/rose_bowl_would_be_ok_with_lsu_michigan/

UM vs LSU
ND vs FL or Ark
Wake or GT vs Louisville or Rutgers
Boise State vs Neb or OK

Those would all be good matchups. Except the Boise thing...I don't see a game against OK or Neb going very well for them...however, I will watch if possible.

It's nice to see the ACC vs the Big East. The ACC sucks bad enough this year that this would pit the two weakest conferences against each other and should prevent a blowout of the Big East team. So that's cool.

[this all assumes that USC wins against UCLA]

The Orange Bowl and Fiesta Bowl can't be happy about their matchups. The Fiesta had a great matchup last year, though, so I guess it evens out.

3 of the 5 games should be excellent. I'd be exceptionally excited to see a Michigan-LSU matchup.

I think this will be one of the years when the BCS shines. The OSU/SC winner will be a legitimate national champion, and all the runners up are pretty strong teams. With the SEC and the Big 10 going 2 deep, there are strong secondary bowls. There's a good mix of offense (Boise St., USC) and defense (UF/Arkansas/LSU, Michigan, OSU). There are programs with tradition (UM, ND, OSU) and newcomers (Louisville, Boise St., GTech). You can't go wrong with a bunch of the matchups.

Any year that ends up with U$S and O$U in the championship game is a horrible failure. Even if they are the best teams.

;)

In all seriousness, though, it does appear that the BCS has worked sent the 2 most deserving teams to the championship game for the 2nd year in a row.

Honestly, I don't think they have missed a year yet...with the possible exception of when they skipped Auburn.

I'll stand by it till death does one of us... any system that keeps the Orange/Rose/sug/ Cotton/ and other bowl games going YET still delivers a true Champion I'm all for... here's to having one sport in America where every game matters, where discussion is hot and tradition is alive, passion lives and where 9-7 teams are never crowned "champion" ... here's to college football and the BCS... may both last forever!

and no, your negative comments can not deter me
