IMHO, they shouldn't have to talk to the media if they don't want to. It's in their contract, so little sympathy tho. I think it's hilarious.

I'm glad I don't remember star athletes acting like this when I was a kid.

Little different media back then though. Not sure how old you are (I'm 44), but the media (and police) used to leave a lot alone if you know what I mean. There was a culture of respect in the media (as well as a culture of let athletes get away with almost anything by the police), and certain athletes had very bad behavior, or illicit behavior which was well known in the ranks, but never reported, or asked about publicly. Today, all mainstream media are almost as bad as TMZ. Today, if you do anything that isn't perfect, you're all over the web in minutes, so for the most part there is now a natural distrust. If Chamberlain was constantly asked about every girl he banged after each game, I'm sure he would have been repetitive too lol. Something like "I'm just here for the pu......"

Yeah i know its in their contract to speak but as a football fan i could care less to see them speak to the media anyways. Its always generic "i need to play better, we need to not turn the ball over, we need to stop the run etc..." This is some funny shit

I still don't get why anyone in the media tries to ask him anything. He doesn't want to talk. There are plenty of guys who would love for to ask them the typical dumb questions. Go find them.

This is just a problem with journalism today. Reporters aren't asking him questions to get a story. They're looking for quotes. Why answer questions that are just prodding for quotes? He's in his right to ignore them.

He's a doofus.

Now, I'm a reporter, so I admit I'm biased in my view of his whole act, but he's a doofus. You're a key player on a Super Bowl team who will play a major role in the game -- people are going to be curious about you and you're being paid millions of dollars, so suck it up.

In a year or two when his productivity falls off a cliff and he's cut by Seattle and sitting on his couch at home, no one will give a crap about what he thinks about anything and he can have peace and quiet. Until then, suck it up.

ironic that a guy who says so little has others say so much about him due to that fact

So what 3 questions would you ask him? Also what do you think his response would be to those questions?

Love it how he plays the game just like the media and is getting hated on? It's called entertainment and when it comes to interviews Marshawn knows how to make the Seattle fans happy. He is getting paid for his play on the field.

If I was a reporter I wouldn't spend my time trying to get an interview with him because I know what his response is going to be. But like he said in the start of his interviews, if yall want to keep tryin the result will be the same.

I'm just posting so I won't get fined, boss!

Kawhi Leonard does the same and he was Finals MVP. Why is there a double standard?

hmm....

I'll take it a step farther. I don't pay attention to Super Bowl week.

Agree, those days are long gone. The fringe media is to blame for this.

I'm with you on the first comment. Watching Mike and Mike and the morning is about my limit of SB coverage.

On the second, fringe media and the internet in general. Today, everyone with a smart phone can touch thousands or millions within seconds. And I'm not saying athletes or stars in general deserve a pass from bad behavior, but I don't want to see all the non-sports topics about sports people. When I turn on sports center, I want to see sports, not tabloid reporting.

Why is it so wrong that he doesn't want to talk to the media? As others have said, all the reporters just want good quotes from him. They don't really care about anything he REALLY has to say.

He knows he is a pawn in Goodell's game, and doesn't want to play it. He isn't a doofus, he is smart really. Also I was listening to the radio today, and the show I listen to mentioned how a former NFL player spoke very highly of Lynch. He said that Lynch is a genuine nice guy who is always willing to help with his kids camp and is very active with the kids.

He hates the NFL, and I can't blame him. But damn does he love football.

He signed a contract to play in the NFL and that contract has certain stipulations that he is not above following. Every other player in the league has to follow those rules, so why is Marshawn Lynch better than anyone else? And there *are* questions that, if Marshawn wasn't determined to act like a five year-old, I would like to ask the starting RB on a Super Bowl team.

Look -- there's no gun being held to his head that is making him play football. He can go do something else with his life if he wants. *Or* he can follow the rules, answer some questions and make millions of dollars. In the grand scheme of life, being forced to answer some questions in a press conference is a *pretty darn good trade-off* for being able to make millions and provide for your family. I'd sure be happy to do it.

Or he can pay $50,000 fines like an idiot just to prove some stupid point like a petulant child. His choice.
