I was reading the boards over on II and someone posted the ESB was a "lock" and was all Irish; after following recruiting for 4 years now, it's foolish to think anything is a lock or guarantee when it comes to recruiting...

My question is how confident should we be that ESB will be Irish on NSD? Should we be worried about his visits to Stanford and Washington State? It'd be pretty bad if the staff cancelled Cager's visit thinking ESB was going to ND just to find out he's not.

Right now? Very confident. But like you said... two visits on tap. Anything can happen.

Your description for Buncom sounds more like "We have a shot at" as opposed to squarely in the race.

Discouraging. I've enjoyed watching Conor and I know his father well. This has to be hard to swallow, although he's a bright kid and will do well in life.

ESB and Alize are must gets.

I would gladly welcome Cronkrite, Buncom, and Williams.

You take commitments NO MATTER WHAT from Soso and Iman Marshall. I don't care what the #'s are or how late in the stage it is. Make room for them anyway shape or form.

Strange things can happen in recruiting. With that said Iman Marshall is NOT coming to ND.

I hear ya man. Is there anyway we could at least keep him from committing to U$C or dUMb? I know we don't play Big Maize probably while he would be there but I don't want them to get better. Him and Peppers would be lethal combo. I also don't think the Condoms need to get any richer either. Hope he doesn't commit to any team we play!

I don't think so that's JMO from reading around. He is all USC.

USC is going to have a crazy good 2015 class.

If Iman Marshall doesn't go to USC it would be to go to FSU, not Michigan.

I am jealous of the talent and speed U$C hauls in every year. Even on probation they didn't land #'s but they still landed stars. Didn't they have 2 frosh this year contribute?

Sh!t, don't we play FSU again in a few years?! How about Marshall just goes to San Diego State or Cal

Much like ND USC sells itself. Awesome weather, a nice campus, near LA, not the academic standards of Stanford or ND and not to mention pretty good football. And then if you get a good coach that can recruit it makes it really hard to beat them out. The only thing we can do is try to beat them on the field.

Don't forget the beaches and women! Also, having 2 NBA teams, 2 MLB teams, and an NHL team doesn't hurt. As much as I hate U$C, it is purely out of jealousy. I would send my kid there so I could visit. But if my kid is going to freeze his ass off, it will be wearing blue and gold. Hard to beat an ND business degree!

I agree if one of my children had the chance to get out and see different places its hard to tell them no. Isn't that what you as a parent for you kids to get around and find out what the what they want to do in life. But my kids would have a huge ND supporter in the corner.

We are doubling back and checking on an OL prospect who is uncommitted at this time. Don't know if anything comes of it. Tillery will definitely start out on DL.

I checked on this again after you posted and I don't expect us to add any additional OL. Maybe that'll change but there isn't anyone right now that we're targeting.

It's per Sampson. No follow up as of now.

Maybe we're looking at a contingency in case we have an open spot or Stanley leaves, but right now there is not a realistic target being pursued. And they don't expect to add one given the current status quo.

Mentioned a possible injury to a sophomore OL as one reason as well. Just feelers right now but could develop is my understanding.

I think it's just Sampson jumping the gun again. He jumped the gun with Bryant/Folston thing before the bowl at a time when no other sites felt comfortable reporting anything... and nothing happened. He said Sheldon Day was confirmed returning... and then after the game Sheldon Day said quite clearly that a decision had not been made yet. He's reporting pursuit of another OL... and I think it's premature again.

I've got a good grasp of the potential OL we're talking about and I'm telling you that with the current status quo it's not happening.

Per Wiltfong today:
As of Sunday evening, Notre Dame has not made a final decision on whether they’ll pursue another offensive lineman. If Ronnie Stanley chooses to come back, ND does not need to pursue another offensive tackle in this class.

So yeah, seems like given current status quo we won't be realistically in play with another OL, but if things change with health of younger players or Stanley then maybe we'd pursue one. I think our most probable targets should that occur are actually some guys currently committed elsewhere.

The number is 25 (currently at 23) per Irish247, that means two more with a third being likely as Prentice won't be in the class. ESB, RB, S

Thinking we'll end up with a transfer or two, or maybe a decommit. Just a gut feel as I always expect a little drama. I'm sure if we do it will probably impact 5th years more than recruits but think things might get spicy.

Lucky can you confirm that the 23 commits includes ESB who most assume is a silent commit? Thanks.
