I think this a good thing, although we'll probably still get smoked but im holding out hope

Tell you what if Day/Cage are actually healthy it changes the complexion of this game a lot. If you can then get your DEs to hold up against the run and you commit to basically playing with 8 guys in the box at all times with a single high safety it becomes conceivable that we'll stop the run. We try to play base 4-3 with Morgan responsible for too much and we'll still get toasted. We also need to try to get big... wouldn't mind someone with size playing at SAM instead of Onwualu. If Riggs can play the entire game our ability to compete in man coverage also increases.

Good thought, wonder if Councell gets some run time. It does sound like inside will be more formidable but like you mentioned the DE worries me. Okwara just hasn't been very good and with Rochelle inside he's going to have to play more this game.

Just to add to the Okwara comment. Apparently the staff is pretty disappointed in his play per TJ. Basically it's time to show up or get completely passed.

It will be a nice challenge for Hayes to go up against the LSU rushing attack. It's a bummer to face a really good team in a bowl game after playing so poorly down the stretch, but it will be great for the young guys.

From what I've seen, most of the SEC-toting is coming from non-LSU SEC fans. They think ND is gonna get destroyed, while most LSU fans are weary because, LSU's not a good team. Of course, USC wasn't a good team either and we saw how well that turned out...

LOL, maybe. One fan seems fairly knowledgeable and said that they were suspect in the defensive secondary and that their passing game sputters some. Then he mentioned the ND/FSU game, so I suspect he thinks that is the Irish they are facing.
