I love fans of conferences. Conference fans like to have a little security blanket in case their team sucks.

It kills me how some of these teams get a pass because they play in a conference even when their respective conference is weak overall. We take flack for our schedule in the middle of the year even when we started out with GTech and Michigan in the first two weeks. We play GTech, Michigan, and USC. Those are three teams that are battling for first place in their league.

what's funny is take a look at #1 in the country tOSU... our schedule basically mirrors the buckeyes in terms of collective stregth, but no one knocks tOSU for playing Cinny and Yongstown... bad part of being an Irish fan is you have to get used to the double standard that every other fan base throws at us...

bottom line is I don't like the in fighting here in this thread... let's hold our anger for a collective trip to Columbus or LA and beat the crap out of any bitches in any variation of red....

Yeah, there is a double standard concerning Notre Dame. We just have to live with it. Our schedule next year could end up being a bear. Anyway, I am tired of all the discussions on ND's weaknesses. By this time, we should all know that they are flawed (average pass protection, getting beat deep, weak run game). Those flaws are not going away. They just have to play up to their capability to overcome the flaws. We don't have to dominate. We just have to win. Sure, I would like it if we dominated these weaker opponents. However, I've now accepted the fact that we are not a dominant team. We are not a beat somebody by 4 TD's team. We couldn't even get the reserves in until 5 minutes left against UNC. I repeat, against UNC! If you weren't convinced before, you should be now. SC will expose these flaws. We can still beat them. They're flawed too.

I have been saying for the better part of the season that both SC and ND have flaws (they are probably the two teams in the top ten that have under-delievered the most this year)... and even though most people here don't like to hear honest opinons I have to say YES we can beat SC... without a doubt... will it happen? no, most likely it won't..SC will probably give us a beating... they have the better team hands down right now, they probably will expose us a bit more then we do them and so on and so forth... but who gives a shit...

Bump -Go to page 1

This is required reading and in light of all the faint hearts around here I think it's a good time to bump this thread.

Gonna be a lot of freshman, and sophomores playing next year...

yeah and it's gonna be an exciting year. There are going to be a lot of close, hard fought games that can either be won or lost.

the schedule is a little tougher then this years and seveal of the teams will have a lot more upperclassmen experience

our defense will be a little better too.

This ND team has been one of my favorites, too bad they can't play for a NC.Hopefully the seniors can get a bowl win.As for next year I think I'm more excited than I was for the beginning of this year.

I actually have to say that next year (even if they go 7-5) will be a fun year to watch. It should be interesting seeing the younger guys develop as the year progresses.

I'm looking forward to next year also, it will be nice for people not to expect much from us again.

I'm actually excited for next year. I love watching raw talent, and that's exactly what the irish will have next year.

Our offense will be a lot of no namers and first timers...and I'm excited for it. Our line will have some growing pains, but should be able to at least put up what this year's has (Duncan and Young look to be our bookends for the next 2 years, Id guess Young at LT, Duncan at RT), our RB will be solid (Walker is a good back, but blocking plays a big roll in the run game), our TE's will be unknown, and we'll still be able to run 4 WR sets (Grimes, Hord, Kamara, Jackson, Parris, Gallup, West, Little) and our QB will be competent. We won't be as big name, but we'll be good again on offense. Our D should improve. I like where our D-Backs and Linebackers are heading, but it's our interior D-Line that scares me.

Our whole team will. It's scary really... but that's what happens when you don't recruit well.

how do we know this? we'll either have a true freshman or a junior who's not been allowed to throw the ball during the garbage time that he's gotten this year. right?

It'll be better than C. Holiday, Arnaz Battle or a freshman Brady Quinn droppping back under center THIS I DO IN FACT KNOW... beyond that... ah.......................

I'll give it a "should be better", but that's about it for now.

I'm confident in that because Charlie will not ask the QB to play outside of his capabilities. He's going to run the offense to what he can and cannot do. I don't think anyone would've thought Brady would've been this good two years ago...

Thought this was a good time to Bump this up in light of wednesday and those of you that might be stressing out if, I mean when, we don't get Tez and Griffen.

Why would anyone jump now? We've been through Davie. We've been through Willingham. Many of us have even been through the Faust years (I lived in South Bend at that time and could always get tickets). It can't be any worse than what we have already seen.

You seem to be alluding to "fair weather fans". However, how many fair weather fans visit the message boards in the offseason?

there are some that seem to panic whenever we miss out on big time recruits.

Not accusing anyone in particular, but rest assured, there will be a couple that might hit the panic button after the 20th.

That is why I bumped this up.

As much as I enjoy reading the envied ones posts, Ihave to say I am totally excited for next season. We will get to see how great coach weis truely is, working with the weakest team he may ever have at our lady. No matter how badly next season goes, remember only through adversity, does one achieve greatness. i would love to sit back like others and say that CW should be bringing us championships right now. But that is arrogant and unrealistic, lets support our coach who has us believing in ND greatness again, and support him during his hardest tenure at ND.
