USC highlights = not good.

He is going to decide this summer because he wants to enroll early.

"I've always wanted to go to Texas. That's close to home, so that would be really nice," he said. "They put people in the league, it's a great school and it's a great environment down there."
It's still early... but it looks like if Texas pushes for him hard, he is Macks to lose.

I felt the same way. Texas kids are hard to pull out of Texas these days. You never know but I won't be surprised to see him verbal to Texas. We will still get great WR's next year.

I feel like we've still got a great shot to land him. He's had a lot of interest in us, and it's early on. There isn't a kid in Texas who wouldn't play for the Longhorns, so it's not like anyone should've expected him to shun them. The fact that he and Floyd camped at ND and got to know CW and Powlus makes me happy and optimistic. I think we've got a great shot, and it's more than "Mack's to lose".

The kid is clearly joking. Even if he wasn't, then suppose you also take everything else he also says at face value: He doesn't drink and doesn't smoke. So, if you take everything at face value, you can think of it as we are recruiting MARTIN LAWRENCE to come to Notre Dame

Maybe, but Texas kids are not as hard to pull away as Louisiana kids are from LSU. Louisiana kids pretty much never leave the state, unless LSU doesn't have a spot for them that year.

You guys are out of control about the myspace stuff.... ridiculous

This kid is a hell of a talent and shows sincere interest. Also if he commits in the summer that could give us another early push towards a top five class. ala Jimmy this year. You old guys need to wake up. It is the year 2006 that is how we talk. It's not the 70's anymore.

Last night on Power Hour Dan said that he and Michael Floyd have become very good friends, and they talk or text just about every day. He also said that the two are setting up their visits to various schools on the same weekend so they can hang out and that there is a very good chance that they could end up attending the same school. He then went on to talk about what he was looking for in a school and mentioned that academics were really big, because if football didn't work out then he didn't want the first 20 years of his life to be a waste and end up having to work at McDonalds. When asked about ND chances with him he said, "I would say that they have a real, real good chance of getting me.".

Can you imagine Buckner, Floyd, Kamara, and Little at WR along with Jimmy / DJ at quarterback. That is one heck of a WR corps.

not to mention the TE talent. With WR's and TE's like that it's going to take a miracle to stop the Irish in the Red Zone.

Imagine this!

QB: Jones and Clausen. (Frazier transfers)
RB: Aldridge, Allen, and Prince
FB: Asaph and Luke
OL: Will be a huge brick wall.
WRs: Kamara, Little, Tate, Buckner, Floyd, West
TEs: Reuland, Ragone

One hell of a Offense.

Wow, that would be one hell of an offense. If we could get these two WR's, Charlie could really focus on defense and go hard after the defensive studs. The future looks bright!

Buckner will be visiting Texas ths Sunday and he has recently said Texas is his new favorite, and if they offer him this weekend he will probably accept.

Dude, don't count on it.

I wouldn't worry about him dude, Floyd is and should be our primary target. Would it be sweet to get Buckner, shit yeah, but he isn't going to be one of those that switch. Dude was a longhorn from the get go and it is a very rare instance where Texas loses a recruit.

When a kid committs to Texas, they are married to the school. If he looks, he loses his scholie. We'll be fine without him, best to wish him luck in his future.

Yeah if he goes there I wish him the best of luck. He seems like a really good level headed kid, and Mack Brown seems like one of the better "good guys" in coaching.

I think Mack Brown is a really nice stand up guy that I would've liked to play for, and the kind of guy that I wouldn't mind having my future kids play for. If I had to pick a school to play at (ND not included), and my decision was completely based on the head coach, then I would have to choose Texas (Mack Brown) in football, and North Carolina (Roy Williams) in basketball.

Things like this are what shows me he really gets it. It's just to bad he's from Texas.

He then went on to talk about what he was looking for in a school and mentioned that academics were really big, because if football didn't work out then he didn't want the first 20 years of his life to be a waste and end up having to work at McDonalds.

you got to think that texas will be all over him. it'll be tough to pull him away.

This maybe true, but the Irish have gotten in pretty early with this kid, which improves their chances. Besides it seems to me that most of the top players that do leave the state of Texas tend to be on the offensive side of the ball.

After this year, I don't put much faith in it when I hear a kid talk about academics being important.

How many said that this past year only to choose a school like LSU, North Carolina or Florida.

Not buying it this next year.

I usually don't either anymore, but I thought Dan took it past the level of just saying something to the effect of academics are reallly important to me, or academics will be one of my most important deciding factors.

I would love to believe him, but guys like Zo Edwards and Jason Peters said the same thing, along with Benn, Donald, etc.

It is early so I will take that for what it is worth but it is interesting to see these kids myspace/facebook etc. Some people say well he is just a fan of the longhorns and it doesn't have anything to do with the choice a kid will make. To a point I can sort of agree with that but a lot of me disagrees. If I was a great Football player and and ND vs. Texas was recruiting me and obviously I'm a huge ND fan and that would be all over my myspace there is no question I would choose anything other than ND. I did find it funny how Duval Kamara had a different background about every other day before he commited.

UNC has a good academic reputation. They certainly shouldn't be compared to LSU and frankly there is no vast difference in the quality of education you'll get there compared to Notre Dame. I believe US News only has them 6 or 7 spots apart in their rankings.

Your right, UNC being thrown in there was a bad choice on my part, I should have thrown a different school in there like Auburn, Tenn, or just about any other school from the SEC, with the exception of Vande.

But I think you get the point I was trying to make. More often than not, when a recruit says something about education being one of their main factors is giving lip service.
