Even those the second half was less than stellar on his part, he still didn't do anything wrong and the whole gang has given him the trophy. I actually agree w/ you only if we're willing to accept that the Heisman has become the MVP award for the player on the team expected to win the National Championship. The reality is, that's Smith.

And if we are to accept that, than I say they should just get it over with and wait to hand it out until after bowl season so they can give to the guy on the team they know ACTUALLY WON the national title. If the Heisman were awarded this way, Vince Young would've taken it home last year. You know how much it killed ESPN that their annointed saviour last year didn't come through and win the big one. This way they could just give it to a guy like Vince Young who wins it all for his team, and then spend the next 4 months swearing up and down how they knew he'd win it all along. 'Cause THAT wouldn't get infuriating...

The thing that sucks about this heisman race is every major media outlet has Troy Smith as the winner no matter what. I mean, heck, they had a heisman trophy on the field yesterday to give to him after the game.

Wow, I cannot belive I am about to say this but Smith deserves the trophy. Ok there I said it. No matter what quinn does agianst USC he does not deserve it Smith played up to his competition. He is surrounded with much better players and a running game that forces teams to play one safety up on first downs. He has shown agianst the same blitzes (michigan) he did not panic. As for moral charchter Brady is heads above him. Brady is an intelligent and gracious player. Smith takes money from whoever is handing it out. But these trophies do not take into account NCAA violations or moral charcter its about the same thing the NCAA is about MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!! So until NY athletitic club changes there rules it will be tough to get good kids that trophy anymore. Ok I am done sounding like a bitter child who's mom hasn't kicked him out of the basement. Why shouldn't he win it. BQ has had a great season but Smith beat Michigan and that is it, and he put up some impressive numbers. I don't have a problem with Smith getting it although I would rather Quinn. I think maybe they were just referring to the NFL and maybe his size? His interview seemed fine to me. If OSU wins the NC will you guys be able to stop hanging onto a game that happened a year ago? I have to agree there is really no "difference" that you can see between Quinn and Smith this year.

Admittedly, Troy Smith has a great surrounding cast, and you cannot deny the better running backs, offensive line. This would explain the difference in receptions our wide recievers and tight ends get in comparison and why Quinns passing stats will be much more than Smiths.

Would Quinns numbers be better if ND ran a more balanced offense in every game? Possibly. Possibly not, no reason to speculate since we will never know.

Pro Football Weekly in their 2007 NFL Draft Magazine said that Troy Smith as an NFL QB prospect: is too short, has poor foot work, throws off his back foot, makes his receivers adjust to his throws and has character flaws. Character flaws were primarly makes poor personal decesions, namely: the $500.00 Cell Phone incedent with a booster, his mother and Marurice Clarett. PFW also stated he follows the wrong crowd and trouble follows him. That sounds like someone I'd want to draft. PFW comments about BQ in the same magazine led me to believe that he is the real deal with most scouts, and is fundemetally sound and of unquestionable character. Character and strong fundementals go a long way my friend in the NFL draft. Something that Smith did not gain in life or at tOSU.

This is something that should play into the heisman. Character , yes I mean it even though Mr Brand, head of the NCAA, doesn't have a ton. The Student Athlete's which I am not sure play at tOSU, need to have some restraint. Maybe taking money from a booster does seemlike a big deal look at how it effects your draft. People look at that stuff because leaders do not make those decisions. If he hadn't got caught do you think he would have done it agian. Probably!!!!! So my point is he is not what bests represents to me the most valuable NCAA football player because he is not really an amatuer he got paid to play once. Guess what folks thats all it takes to lose that status. Who knows how much more money he has been given. Maurice seemed to turn out ok from tOSU. It seems Miami has a brother up north called The Ohio State U. Were is this game headed?
