What I find interesting is that we have a coaches poll which dictates rankings for a NC. Interesting to note:

1. Coaches have a natural bias towards their in conference brethren to make bowls (for revenue sharing).
2. Coaches should be coaching on Saturday...how do they watch the games to see what teams are doing?

All in all, coaches poll is bullshit.

Basically ND gets penalized for Michigan losing to the #1 team in the country who obviously beat ND. Arki gets rewarded because SC knocked off a ranked Cal team, eventhough USC destroyed them in September.

I have never seen so many people agianst one team in the history of sports, this is unheard of and smells like dung, since the coaches can't change our record or computer ranking they will do anything they can to stop us from playing in the national championship game. If you look at the point totls which I do not just the ranking number Florida actually gained points in there impressive win against a division II team. I think coaches need tested for drugs not the players.

Yeah, this was PROVEN last year when all coaches in the PAC-10 (except Walt Harris) voted ND 5 points lower than all the other coaches...so they could get Oregon up in the rankings.

The polls after we beat USC and have no more games in the regular season to play are all that matter. If we are on the short end of the stick then, perhaps we should cause an uproar. There is no way that USC should be ranked #2. As much as I hate to say it, Michigan is still better. After watching USC play after going to the Irish game, I was not impressed. Their passing offense is nothing special as well as their running game. The key matchup will be our offense against their defense. With all the emotion we have, I'm feeling very good about us winning.

usc scared me on saturday night. their defense is something. did you see how well they time their blitzes? it's impossible to protect against a well-timed blitz. they stymied cal's offense.

as for michigan, i don't know which thread to put this in, but they were not as impressive as everyone is saying. i'm sorry, 3 turnovers in opponents territory (2 of which were gifts!) and you only manage 10 points off turnovers?!!!! that was the game there, they had the opportunity to win and didn't. michigan does not deserve #2 at this point, and they should not get the shot to play OSU for the NC.

It seems to me that a lot of voting coaches are letting their jealousy of Charlie cloud their better judgement...after all, how many of them have pulled victory out of the jaws of defeat in the last few minutes of a game.

Ever notice that when ND does win a game like that in the last minute it is always referred to as "luck of the Irish" but when other teams do it, it is referred to as "what a great comeback" or "winning ugly" whenever a team holds on to beat a below average oppenent. Just another example I have noticed of the bias against ND.

I'm sick of the rematch talk. Who's to say a 1 loss USC or Arkansas(I'll leave ND out because apparently our own fans think ND is crap) wouldn't beat OSU? People have opinions, but they haven't played. Or even played common opponents. MIchigan has played OSU. And they lost.

I'm amazed at listening to all the "prove it on the field" crap from people crying for a play-off who are now kissing Michigan's ass saying they deserve a SECOND chance before USC or Ark or hell, UF get a 1st chance.
