Heisman watch, Quinn vs. Smtih

I think Brady has a good chance of takin the Heisman this year Smith of Ohio st has 22 TD's and 1 INT, Quinn has 25 TD's and 4 INT's

Here's how I view it, it all comes down to Quinn and Smith's last games, When Ohio st loses to Michagan ( I say when cus I strongly feel they will) It will put a damper quite large in Smith's Heisman run, as for Quinn, the long awaited ND vs. USC game in which we all know Quinn has to and will bring his "A" game, will prove his dominancy in the NCAA awarding him the Heisman!

What do you guys think!

that's how he will win it... question is will that happen... I also feel strongly Mich. will beat tOSU and have long before they played us... the question is... will Brady win the award in Los Angeles or lose it???

LET'S GO BRADY!!!!!!

I agree it comes down to the last games 4 each but Smith has to basically play terrible and Michigan has to win big i.e. UM vs ND game for Quinn to have a chance going into the USC game. Numbers don't matter so much this year, Smith looked so good early(according to the media) that now he basically has to avoid shooting himself in the foot. If he has a game like last year where he basically beat Mishitgan then its his, even a close loss with a solid performence and it his. Now if tOSU does lose then quinn has 2 probably throw for 350+ and 4 td's in a route to take it away.

I just read an interview with Smith by Mandel on SI.com. Mandel asked Smith who he thought should be up for the Hesiman.

Smith pointed to Drew Stanton, then Garret Wolfe, then Adrian Peterson (even though he got injured), then Tedd Ginn Jr.

No mention of Quinn, which I thought was pretty funny. Man, I hope Smith has like 5 INTs against UM, and OSU just gets blown out of the water.

I think Michigan will have a huge victory over OSU now that Bo has died (bless his soul) and they will play in his honor. To lose to O$U would be a travesty. Brady will win the Heisman.

Should be interesting to see the UM-tOSU game play out.

Thats because he knows that BQ is right next to him and that BQ will play on Sundays and he'll be lucky to make it in the Arena League or Canada. The guy will not make into the NFL!!

Honestly, I think both guys are going to need a significant amount of help to make it in the NFL. Troy Smith doesn't have Quinn's arm, but he throws immensely well under pressure. Quinn is going to need max protection (unlikely in NFL). If he doesn't, he might end up like a David Carr, though I don't think he's going to be a huge bust. It's more likely, though, that he becomes a bust rather than a star.

With respect to Troy Smith, he's had max protection his whole career, but his absence of a legtimate deep ball, in addition to the fact that he doesn't have a strong arm, will limit him. I see him as a reliable, but career backup. Also, I don't think he's fast enough to be like a Mike Vick or a Vince Young.

Keep in mind only a tiny handful of NFL teams have great OLs. Neither Smith nor Quinn have the tools necessary, in my opinion, to overcome that deficiency.

yep it's over...

it'll now gonna be two straight heisman winners who shouldn't even have been eligible to play... let alone win the greatest single award in sports....

Of course... but the Heisman Trophy is for the best collegiate player, not the best Pro Prospect. Otherwise, how do you explain that Gino Torretta or Danny Weurfel won those bad boys during their day?

Smith vs UM = 29/41 (70.7%) for 318, 4TDs, 1INT
Quinn vs Army = 22/30 (73.3%) for 218, 3TDs, 1INT

Smith earned the Heisman today...

Just my opinion and not an argument here....if Quinn has a huge day against USC he will make the voters atleast have to think about their vote. Either way I would say if Smith wins it he totally deserves it the way he played tonight. I hate saying that....

I guess what pisses me off is that I just saw Troy Smith interviewed and when he was asked about the heisman he responded something like this:

"well, first off, the heisman is a team award, so you could be an outstanding player but if you lose two or three games you don't deserve it."

The problem I had with this is that he didn't answer the question of why HE deserved it. He pretty much answered the question by saying why Quinn shouldn't get it.

The Heisman goes to the most outstanding player in college football. You can argue for Smith, he's had a great season. But so has Quinn and just because he had one bad game doesn't mean he doesn't deserve it.

So the tragedy is that the Heisman isn't being debated. Because it should be up for debate.

I think he pretty much answered why he deserved it tonight. I do agree with the fact that it should be debated. How can someone have a lock on the award for two months when he doesn't even have the best statistics between himself and the only other real candidate at the same position. Like I said in my previous post if BQ were to have a huge day ala Carson Palmer vs. ND in 2002, then I think their might be some conversation. But I think its over, to much media hype for Smith all year.

Unless Quinn completes 75% of his passes for 5 touchdowns and 400 yards against USC, then Smith has the heisman in the bag.

I even doubt this will do it.

He may take some votes away, but it's Troy Smith's and it's not even close.

I wish Quinn would win the heisman BUT...........

I wish Quinn would win the heisman BUT...........

Wow, I cannot belive I am about to say this but Smith deserves the trophy. Ok there I said it. No matter what quinn does agianst USC he does not deserve it Smith played up to his competition. He is surrounded with much better players and a running game that forces teams to play one safety up on first downs. He has shown agianst the same blitzes (michigan) he did not panic. As for moral charchter Brady is heads above him. Brady is an intelligent and gracious player. Smith takes money from whoever is handing it out. But these trophies do not take into account NCAA violations or moral charcter its about the same thing the NCAA is about MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!! So until NY athletitic club changes there rules it will be tough to get good kids that trophy anymore. Ok I am done sounding like a bitter child who's mom hasn't kicked him out of the basement. God bless America and Notre Dame.

Quinn could throw for 450 yards and 7 TDs, he isn't getting the trophy. Smith won it today, and like several people have said, rightfully so. GOD, makes me want to vomit saying that.
