Use the Willingham and Weis record comparisons, eh? After 22 games, Willingham was 13-9 (59%) and Weis 18-4 (82%). Go figure.

On top of that Willingham is slowly but surely losing his way out of Washington. That team managed to piss away any bowl hopes. Losing to Stanford bad, losing by 17 points is as bad as getting 'blown out by Syracuse'

Funny how they also never mentioned that:

-of Willingham's 1st 4 losses, 3 were by > 20 pts (Weis had 1 loss >20pts)
-of his next 6 games (ie. games 16-21 in his tenure), Ty lost 5; and of his next 11 games (ie. games 16-26 in his tenure), Ty lost 7. Several blow-outs in there as well.

While not a Ty hater, he seemed to lose his team with the bad end to the '02 season.

If you want to QUANTIFY the blowouts I have a great stat for you.

In ND history there have been 19 games where the team lost by more than 30 points.
(losses were to: USC x 3, FSU, UM)

Willingham had 5 of those losses

10/7/06 Weis ND 31 Stanford 10

11/11/06 Stanford 20 Willingham's Washington 3

That was an 0-9 Stanford team with the 118th Offense and 101st Defense that beat UW.

Nothing need ever be said again.

Stanford should not have won a game this season.

The U-Drub Dogs got off to a nifty start, but they've faded.

Typical.

That's a shame. They started off 4-1. They couldn't beat Stanford? They only scored 3 points? Is Stanback still hurt or something? That's pathetic.

I was on the scout board and their is already a petition going around to get Ty fired. I guess some fans and alumni also wrote the AD and turned in their season tickets for next year. That is sad.

Poor Ty. Can someone please remind Washington fans that they sucked before Ty got there and to give the guy a little time? As arrogant as this sounds, they are not ND for crying out loud. Most schools need a few years to turn things around.

It's the best Sig I ever had lol.

Poster on IrishEyes brought up a good point about other fanbases claiming coaches didn't deserve to get fired. This was in response to an Illini fan saying that "FSU fans believed Ron Zook didn't deserve to fired from UF". The ND fan basically said that of course an FSU fan would say that, what teams want to see teams they face year-in and year-out, fire a coach whose team they have abused on a consistent basis?

Those UW fans are all racists!!! Imagine wanting their team to at least perform?

ugh Ty Willingham is such a tired topic.
No offense to any of you but I don't see how anyone could care about this guy anymore.

To be honest, I think the reason he's still a topic is that people talked about how we were wrong. And frankly the talk won't completely end until Weis finishes his 3rd year. That's the ultimate benchmark. That being said, once Weis wins 3 more games, he will be tied with Willingham for wins... That could happen as early as January. (assuming we win out the rest of this season)

Also, Ty is laying down a track record at UW. Admittedly he started off with a FAR worse situation than Weis...but losing to Stanford is brutal...even with your Starting QB not playing. Seriously, Stanford is AWFUL (not that I really need to tell you this...lol)

I think the UW fans are being fair-weather a-holes...because what they REALLY need is some basic discipline NOT wins. Neuheisal left them in hell...they need to realize that. Willingham HAS improved things there whether they believe it or not.

Next year will prove all. Can Willingham be an ok coach for the PAC-10 or not...

And in all honesty, we know he can. He's done it before. But turning around UW is going to take time...Slick Rick really screwed those guys over.

However, Ty will never play for the PAC-10 title, let alone a NC while he is there.
