anyone else starting to think that the complex they have with us reminds you a lot of the complex Red Sox fans have with the Yankees, yet oddly enough there is next to zero history between our two teams to given birth to such hate and bitterness... they have the top team in the country yet their won respective forums and fans talk more about thier hate for ND than their love of thier buckeyes...

I know there is next to no way of seeing them in a bowl THIS year... but if we are going to aim for a BCS we might as well wish for them... I figure we stand the same shot against them as we do Florida and oh how glorious it would be.... too bad it's nearly impossible now...

anyway, there, am I done ranting

Yeah I just went over and read the ESPN board you mentioned in an earlier post and tOSU people on there kill me, guess they figure after suffering through the Cooper years and having a National Title given to them they have the right to kick ND when they are down. By the way, been think about this, besides Texas who has tOSU really played this year....um nobody now that I think about it. Now I would kind of put that I hope we see OSU in a bowl game this year thought away. Remember Manningham this year, Ginn and Holmes last year? I think those guys are still running loose somewhere.

They almost lost to Cinncy and should ahve lost to the same Peen St. team we smashed on... we wouldn't be favorites for sure... but you never know until you play the games

anyway LOVE YOUR Sig...!!! Words Irish fans will love hearing... With the first pick, The Cleveland Browns select...

The reason I brought up who OSU has played because as the season has worn on the only team that has truly stood out as a good team is UT, and that game played today with McCoy being more experienced might be very different. Iowa looked great but they just lost to Northwestern. They haven't played one good team with an experienced QB yet. As far as us seeing them in a bowl game, I would like to play them so we can exact some revenge but that match up still scres me. Thanks for the props on the sig, Cleveland I could handle...but if there is a god Matt Millen will grow a brain and do whatever it takes to get him in detroit. Sorry didn't mean to make this an OSU thread lol.

I don't know why but I went back to the ESPN thread for a while 2-night... again, NOTHING but tOSU fans smashing ND and getting flat flagrant when you defend them... I try so hard to withhold judgement... but god damn... it's like ND fans' collectively shot each one's family members' and got away with it or something... again the only word is "laughable"... and for the second night in a row... I'm done ranting...

and don't worry, at some point, I'll learn to move on and let it be

Hard to do, ain't it? I used to live and die by these silly internet feuds. Doesn't seem to matter what the topic is: football, music, politics, computers, whatever... put up an internet forum about it, and there will be no shortage of fools and trolls who will show up for the sole purpose of trying to piss off as many people as possible. And for the longest time, I fell for them all, hook-line-and-sinker. Took me way too long to realize that they simply weren't worth my angst, effort or annoyance.

It's an awesome testimony to Svoboda's 'leet moderating skillz that I'm even on this board at all; I gave up on all the other forums I used to haunt years ago. Svo has set up an awesome atmosphere around here, and it attracts a community of posters that continuously astounds me with both their intelligence and their civility.

Fools and trolls aren't worth your time, ACamp... all you need is right here on IrishEnvy. And even when the occasional troll shows up on here, don't argue with 'em. Just add 'em to your Ignore List. :meditate:

that would be all well and fine if we had some life here at midnight pac. time... lol... hence the reason for jumping to ESPN for a minute only to start throwing things...lol... but you are right... tOSU fans would burn down their own house if it made ND fans mad....

anyone else starting to think that the complex they have with us reminds you a lot of the complex Red Sox fans have with the Yankees, yet oddly enough there is next to zero history between our two teams to given birth to such hate and bitterness ...

The Yankees had bragging rights over the Red Sox for 8 decades. Up until OSU wins in '95 and '96 over weaker Holtz teams, ND had bragging rights over OSU for almost 60 years. ND had back to back wins in '35 and '36.

In 1969 (3 years after the Game of the Century 10-10 Tie with MSU) the AP actually voted the 1935 ND-OSU game - The Game of the Century. OSU lead 13-0 at home. With 3 minutes to go ND trailed 13-6 (missed an XP). ND scored but missed another XP, 13-12. ND tried an onsides kick but OSU recovered. OSU then fumbled on a running play and ND recoverd. ND scored a TD with 31 seconds on the clock (and missed a third XP) for a come from behind 18-13 win.

For ND fans it was a classic ND, Shake Down The Thunder win. For OSU fans it was a case of the Buckeyes snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

OSU fans lived with ND's perfect 2-0 winning record for 60 years. Bama finally got a win over ND in the 80's but OSU fans still had to hear, "Whose the only team OSU never beat?"

OSU didn't get the edge until last year's bowl game. They've had bragging rights for 1 year. So they Yankee/Red Sox comparison actually has basis. They didn't play every season like the baseball teams but ND like the Yankees have the lions share of the bragging rights while the Red Sox and Buckeyes hold the current bragging rights.

and yeah, nice breakdown on ND/tOSU I was aware of the history but more than anything the sher bittereness involved... even without the teams playing seems comparible only to Sox/Yanks... whatever, they can live in thier angry state of self loathing all they want I suppose...

Both Quinn and Smith are lighting up inferior teams right now... the tOSU fans will jump all over Quinn for putting up numbers against "creampuffs" and completely overlook the fact that they played Northwestern today....

I wouldn't be knocking the Buckeyes. They are #1 for a reason. They have the best defense in college football and Laurinatus (#33) is the best linebacker in the game gight now. You have to love the way he forces turnovers. The key to next weeks match with the team from up north will be if OSU can handle USum's front 7. I'm betting the Buckeyes will win this one. With Texas loosing...and Florida still having a tough schedule it's now really up in the air who will play the Buckeyes for the NC
