if your dorm gets directtv, it might get it, because cstv is part of some sports package preview kind of thing that's going on. Me, I'll be at the sports bar (I'm in the same situation).

For those of you that have done this before: any tips? I'm planning on calling ahead to see if they're showing, etc. Any other ideas?

Just to answer questions, CSTV is College Sports Television. CSTV signed an agreement with the Mountain West Conference, which gives them the rights to broadcast any home games for member institutions.

Odds are that CSTV is an optional channel available to you, generally bundled with other sports channels including the NFL Network, NBA TV, and the regional Fox channels. Just give your cable/satellite provider a call to see if you have it. Generally, if you don't, you can add like 5-10 more sports channels for $5/month.

I have serious butterflies about this game.

Please! First, Air Force isn't good. I shouldn't have to go further but I will. Second, ND offense will be able to score at will by whatever means they choose on this team. Third, being that this is the second time in three weeks that ND will face the triple option AF no longer has the element of surprise.

The only thing that worries me even slightly is the altitude and the effect it will have on D. The offense can use a whole bunch of personnel packages to get guys some rest but lack of depth on the D will allow AF to keep it respectable but not close.

Unless AF resorts to a F-117 attack ND wins easy.(Obligatory military firepower joke) Take ND lay the points. Just remember to buy me a little something nice with the extra cash.

I think Air Force is a whole let better than Stanford and NC and our D struggled with them at times. I think Tenn has a bit better D than ND and Tenn got all it could handle from Air Force. Never underestimate the heart and determination of the military acadamies. Any team can be beaten on any given saturday if they don't come to play. Who would have thought that NC would have put up as many points on us as they did?

Hopefully our defense will get better. ND will shine again with our offense.

Just go to a sports bar and watch it. I know from experience that there are many of these fine establishments in Carbondale.

I think it depends on how fast they get to the QB and make him pitch it. Against Navy, it seemed like the guys who were to cover the pitch man/men were too quick to leave them and focus on the QB, leaving the pitch man a good bit of room to run. Navy racked up a ton of yards on the ground. Only good thing about it was that it ate alot of clock and when they had to throw it, they didn't have a lot of success.

Oh....and for anyone who can't get CSTV and finds themselves in South-Central PA on Saturday, the ND Club of Gettysburg is having a game watch at the Buona Fortuna restaurant in Hanover, PA (648 Frederick St). Everyone is welcome!

Be sure you do call ahead and verify they carry CSTV. Most of the time they don't do research and think it's on the standard channel.

Yep! If you can, go to the bar and make them put the channel on so you can verify they subscribe to it.

The place we're going to assured me that they had it since they "pay for all the NFL and College games". Luckily this was a few weeks ago and I decided to pay the place another visit before assuming they had the channel. The owner came in the next day to check and found they didn't subscribe to DirecTV's regional sports package so they didn't get CSTV. So he called me and said he was gonna check the receiver at his house. Called me back a few minutes later and said he did get it at home and that he'd bring that receiver into the bar on gameday especially for us. Sometimes I really love living in a small town!

Apparently DirecTV subscribers in some areas are getting the channel for free as a preview weekend centered around the game. Any idea what the boundaries/criteria are for this?

I don't know why they would limit it really...if it's free for some this weekend, it should be free for all.

(Though CSTV, ND & AF might not be too happy to have the rug cut out from under them with regard to the online PPV)

I read that you can watch the game online by subscribing to CSTV at $15.95 before Sat. and $19.95 on game day. (my son who is overseas has done this when the time difference allowed...)

I'll be going to a nieghborhood bar here in Seattle and trying to get them to keep the ND game on the air, while they eagerly watch Pac 10 football. They've been nice to me in the past, but who knows what the TV competition will be this Sat. (hope they are using CSTV, I'd better check...)

I feel bad for the students who are too young to go to the bars, but maybe there is a local pizza (or wings) place showing the games.

Go Irish !!

Apparently DIRECTV will carry the "freeview" nationaly. I hope so, because that is the only way I will get to see the game.

Wow. They're not giving it to Chicago. What pricks. Nice to know fans in Albany will get to watch my football team this weekend, though. What a joke.

I hope no one here orders this awful channel or supports it in any way. Go to a bar, follow it online, do whatever you have to.

Call your cable company and complain...it's them, not CSTV who's to blame.

My prediction: Similar to the Navy game.

The d will struggle early because of the option. They will get on track sooner than in the Navy game.

The o will light it up as usual.

ND will make 1 or 2 defensive stops and the rest is history. ND can score fast, AF can't(unless they are playing Army). Once CW gets a lead the slow mythodical drives will kill them.

i rather not have the offense score fast, but they will have to get a score almost everytime they get the ball because they probably won't get to see the ball that often.

I have faith that we'll score fast early, make 1 or 2 defensive stops, get up by a 2/3 td and then really slow down the game. If ND gets up early, it's over.

I think were going to out shoot them fairly easily. Navy ran over them with the ball and controlled the clock, once again. Although, I think AF has a better passing offense than Navy. They could have some big plays if we get blitzkreig happy.

Aside from the easy 2nd Q scores from Army turnovers, Army played them competitively. Army penetrated AF's line and stopped drives. AF had their share of fumbles. Fortunately for them none of them resulted in an Army score.

ND will use the size advantage on both sides of the ball. I'd expect frequent substitutions for ND due to the altitude. Charlie said in one of his press conferences that the the Patriots found the altitude didn't effect the athletes until after 48 hours. I still have to believe ND rotates people as much as possible.
