I watched a good portion of the UCLA game and couldn't believe how anemic their offense looked. Hundley was getting abused all day.

He may have the skill set to be a big time QB, but the lack of skill players on the Bruins team is very obvious. They better find a few playmakers or they are in for a tough season.

JuJu looked like he is gonna be a force for the next few seasons. Pretty danged polished for a true fresh WR. Still, gotta see USC against someone better than Fresno to be a believer.

Fresno State has been a pretty good program for quite awhile. USC straight up dismantled them. The game was over in the first quarter. Their first team O and D are both loaded. I think they'll give Stanford all they can handle.

They've won 20 games the past two seasons but they played an embarrassingly weak schedule. In 2012 Sagarin had them with the 113th Toughest Schedule. Wins over the likes of SLO and Bob Davie don't establish a program as good.

I liked Pat Hill's "Anywhere, Anytime" grit but DeRuyter isn't scheduling Wisconsin, Nebraska, Ore, UW, Cal, A&M, etc like Hill did. Their tough scheduled games last year were 8-5 Boise and 6-6 Rutgers.

Yes, they scheduled USC this year and they got ran over like they were when Hill scheduled them.

Their first team O and D may be loaded but perhaps they should become teetotalers. USC was OU 21 zip in the 1st Q. The Trojans had over 700 yds of offense and 39 minutes of possession, an extra 17 minutes with the ball.

They gave up 37 First Downs while only making 17. They threw 4 picks.

I'm curious how they are going to "give Stanford all they can handle".

I've been pretty mystified by all of the preseason crowing about UCLA.

Mora's teams have won 19 games in 2 years where Slick Rick won 21 in 4 years. Mora's added 150 points per year to the offense and deducted about 130 from the defense.

They have Hundley but have Texas Away on 9/13, ASU Away on 9/25, ORE 10/11, USC 11/22 and Stanford 11/28. Plus the rest of the PAC schedule. Tough schedule!

They got a lot of work to do next week against Memphis.

I know USC is always a sexy media favorite but people are acting like they took out Alabama or FSU or something. They beat Fresno St. I'm not sure they'll beat Stanford next week.

I'm not sure what outcome is better for the Irish. On the one hand, the Irish beating an undefeated Stanford team is good. But, I also feel that Stanford getting beat early will soften them up for ND. And if ND goes into SoCal and can dismantle USC, especially if they are primed to play for the PAC-12 championship, that's also good for us. I'd rather take my chances on a high-flying USC team late. Their shallow depth and tendency towards a lack of discipline bodes well for an end-of-season match up. I'd say USC will show more cracks at year's end than Stanford.

Watch last years game when they did just that at the end of the season. SC is fielding essentially the same O at the skill positions while Stanford has some holes to fill on D. The SC defense is big and athletic enough to go toe to toe with the Stanford Offense as well.
