weis plays hardball. if it were a major violation, he'd be out for the season, a la RPN. I suspect this was some tough jersey love towards the freshman. If that NDNation post is to be believed, Prince won't be late for a team meeting for the rest of his ND career.

It wasn't Weis' call with RPN. that was university related.

That's correct. Weis had nothing to do with the judgement nor the University imposed extra-curricular activities semester long suspension.

his suspension ended before the bowl.

Powers-Neal said his university-imposed suspension runs through Dec. 7, but that there were no assurances he might be reinstated to the team to practice for and play in a bowl game.

Yet he didn't play in the bowl game...

Aside from the point. So it wasn't Weis that suspended RPN for a majority of the suspension. However, someone mentioned that Prince's infraction may have been major. If it were major, he'd be suspended for a while, at the behest of the university or weis.

Munir is the greatest thing to happen to ND since ..... well since Knute... and this thread is horror... If Charlie doesn't want my Munir then let's open the "Fire Charlie" thread ASAP... or the burn the AD depo thread whatever it take s to save the young man who will bring four in a row vs. SC and at least two titles... that's right
lol

(In case you don't know I've made some pretty lofty predictions w/ Munir, "The REAL Rocket" Prince/King....)

Guys, real story is the Prince didn't make the trip because they brought along an extra fullback instead. The Fullback was Matt Augustyn who is from Baltimore and actually played when Aldridge was in.

It was Powers-Neal who said he'd be eligible to play in the bowl not realizing that at ND you don't get to play in a bowl between semesters if you were ineligible (suspended) during the previous semester. If I recall correctly Charlie wasn't aware of that either. It was a misunderstanding that was clarified in the media last December a week or two after the article you referrenced. Had Power-Neal been declared eligible by the University he would have been available to play.

It was University discipline imposed through Student Affairs, neither a coach nor the Athletic Department have anything to do with the hearing or terms or conditions of the suspension. If Powers-Neal had been a cheerleader or the Leprechuan instead of a player he still would not have been able to represent ND at the bowl game.

Thanks 'topes.

I saw #49 on the field on an offensive play where Aldridge carried and thought, what the hell is Toryan Smith doing on offense? Then I saw on the roster that Matt Augustyn was also a #49, a 236 lb RB, and thought, where the hell is Schmidt? Then I noticed Augustyhn is from Chevy Chase, MARYLAND.

Charlie let the local walkon travel with the squad and play before the hometown folks.

Didn't somebody post recently about recruits not interperting Charlie's treatment of players well?

Maybe this is true, but I doubt Charlie woulda then said that Munir didn't travel b/c he didn't deserve to travel if that was the case.

I did see Augustyn in there. That's great for him that he got to play.

well, my source is a kid on the football team who is good friends with augustyn. I suppose there is always a chance that someone is wrong but I think im gonna bet on this being right. Moreover, but not deserving to travel it might just mean that they were gonna take either him or aldridge and at this point they wanted to see Aldridge get some more carries. You have Darius starting with Aldridge and Thomas to come in.

In the absence of any reports (and I doubt they'll be any) I agree that the RB Road Depth Chart was Walker, Travis, and Alderidge. At #4 RB, Prince didn't deserve (earn) a slot on the 60 man travel squad. The local kid slot went to Augustyn. Perhaps it was just a motivational move by brutally honenst Charlie.

With a home game and a weak opponent, Alderidge and Prince should both get carries this week.

in one of the 60 minutes video clips, coach was telling a player that "he had to make it on the bus first" during practice. So with this extra fullback, maybe prince just made the decision on who to leave home easier for coach weis with his play.

The player he was speaking to in that scene was Jashaad Gaines.
