did anyone notice that on the last play when jeff samardzija scored the winning TD that #96 DT patrick kuntz was on the field. why was a DT on the field with the offense on the most criticle play of the game?

i have to say that was the most amazing drize, no way did i think ND would go 80 yards in three plays. GO IRISH!!!!

was patrick kuntz apart of the final play or should ND have been called for too many men on the field?

He's on the PAT team. Are you sure he wasn't running on after the score for the PAT?

irishman has a valid point...it looks like he is running on the field...but I think he is running onto, after the TD has been scored...I did not see him in the formations on the last play...

I commented before looking at the picture. He is running on for the PAT attempt. There is someone else running on behind him, but it's hard to tell who it is.

There was a celebration that ensued after the touchdown and I was worried about a penalty being called.

Not to mention looking for a flag for holding,facemask,block in the back,clipping, whatever else the Pac 10 officials could muster up on the huge play.

But Shark had just scored a TD and just like Svo stated, I was worried about a penalty for excessive celebration, facemask intent, etc.

he's on the PAT team and just sprinted out there. He may have jumped the gun just a tiny bit, but no harm done.

patrick kuntz maybe on the pat team like you said Ant4NDIrish but it looks to me that he's already on the field running down as JS is crossing the goal line. i also notice that kuntz was one of the first few players to surround JS after he scored and thought to myself how in the world did patrick kuntz get down their so fast.

Nothing got called and I doubt Coach Dorrell is going to make a big issue out of it.

yea, he jumped the gun just a tiny bit, but then he just sprinted really fast to be one of the first guys there. He was right by the sidelines, so I doubt anyone even noticed. that's the fastest I've ever seen such a big D lineman run though. look at the highlight video at the 5:10 mark and you can see him running out there.

Christ I hope not. Shark JUST crossed the line at that very second...he is not celebrating...he is literally crossing the line. .1 second earlier, there was no TD.

WTF is that guy doing on the field?

Yeah, he is ON the field before Samardzija crosses the line. No doubt.

You know, I don't think that win saves his job one bit.

He was down 38-3 to Northwestern. Pat Fitzgerald learned his first major coaching lesson the awful hard way. There is no excuse to blow that kind of lead with 25 minutes left in a game.

Thankfully, they did not plant their flag anywhere in Evanston.

Sucking for 4 straight games may have finally given them some humility.
