Yeah. They look like they quit long before he did.

This should be an interesting search process. They are a basketball school, but UNC has deep pockets. And with NC St. down and Duke being Duke, they have a shot at something. It's a strange day when Wake Forest is the best team in the state.

It should be interesting to see how their commitments/prospects react (cough, cough, Greg Little).

Yeah, I just checked out the UNC Rival's board and someone posted that a local radio station announced it, so that's pretty official.

I'm sure he's a good guy, but if he doesn't retire, he's just going to look like an idiot until the day the school decides to fire him.

If it is just a rumor, there's a reason everyone bought into it: just look at their record. If no one had believed it, it wouldn't be the least bit humiliating. But almost everyone did.

It's only a matter of time really before he is fired. The good thing is he is a pretty decent recruiter and he is a stand up guy. I'm really suprised that UNC, being a basketball school, even cares if their football team wins.

what is real surprising to me is that he is suppose to be a defensive coach...and UNC is terrible on D right now.

A few years ago he won 8 or so games, right?

I believe I heard that it was his first season as head coach.

It's hard to get kids there... especially when there are programs where football comes first in the ACC and in the East Coast area. I'm not to up on his coaching skills, but if he does get fired, he may lose what was shaping up to be a Top 25 recruiting class.

Mack Brown got kids there. Lots of them, and talented ones. Brown was there 9 years. Brown's record was 1-10, 1-10, 6-4-1, 7-4, 9-3, 10-3, 8-4, 7-5, 10-2, and 11-1. He was 20-3 in his last two seasons. Torbush then had it for 3 years and got fired after 7-5, 3-8, and 5-6 season. Bunting won 8 his first year with Brown's last class. Then he played with Torbush's kids while he brought in his own. Bunting's recruited 5 classes so far. This Team is all his.

It's still very hard to pull top talent to a school that supports basketball first and foremost with football as an afterthought... especially one that hasn't won since the Mack Brown days. Mack Brown is irrelevant, since when he was the coach, most of these kids were not even 10 years old.
