Happy 4th to everyone from Pasadena.
FWIW, something in the air today at the Rose Bowl. Two ex-NFLers came into the shop today. Marcus Robertson and Ricky Hunley. Marcus is currently coaching the DBs in Oakland and Hunley is coaching at Memphis. They couldn't be nicer. Marcus was playing golf with his son who was playing for the first time. When they were done they walked in and I asked the kid if he was a football player like his dad, he said no sir I play hockey. I asked if that was something he wanted to do in college, he said for sure! I asked did he know what great schools have top notch hockey programs, I couldn't even get the words out and he replied NOTRE DAME. Great kid, great family. Made me feel good that these kids are out there. Happy 4th!

Throw some meat on the gas grill while tipping a few and then poke a hole or two in the tubing.

Saw fireworks in Lebanon with the kids last night and the Mrs. Today feels like a good day to sit around and play Fallout 3. Happy 4th, everyone!

Happy Independence Day everyone!

I have to keep it on the down low. I am at the new neighbors party, across the street, and he is a command officer for the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Can't be too basic.

Have a great one guys!

Soooo ... where did you stash your Cherry Bombs, M-80s and Ashcans???

... and when will you set them off?

Okay so here is how not to do the 4th. Get wasted on the insistence of your new best officer friend, blend in with the family, forget about how much you had to drink, all without your own kids. (Which makes it a lot easier.)

Then find that when your kids come back today, after a productive day in the yard, that your kids want to go to the suburban fireworks scheduled for tonight! Sheet, man!

I left Willie Pete behind years ago, and have not been much inclined for concussive forces or white hot flames since.

When we were kids we used to take off the mailboxes that had two inch pipe for posts, and drop an M-80 down the shaft and put a rubber ball on the top. Made quite an accent. We were all future mortar men.

We also did model rockets as kids; that was good stuff!

Last night (this morning) when a string of firecrackers went off at 4:30AM, I got up to load up my Bill of Rights and go out to respond. But I couldn't find my blanks! (Usually, scares the shit out of 'em, because it is loud, and really clear what it is.) Oh, well!

Wow, I guess I was wrong. Last night my daughter, and her family came over. Kid forgot about the fireworks. SIL brought his paintball sniper rifle. We set up targets. My three youngest are all killers. They, especially my youngest (8 year old boy) were just drilling bulls eyes! Surprised me!

AND, I got to play with #5, who has made it out of the woods, and is a beautiful healthy little butterball! She is becoming grandpa's girl! Nothing better than hearing a 5 month old squeal with laughter!

Hope each one of you had as much fun on your weekend! (And that you can remember most of it.)
