I agree, I've always said we need some sort of even comparable to Friday Night Lights or Dawg Night or Big House BBQ.

I think what we did this year was a great step in the right direction. Kind of like when we first started pumping in music though and went through some growing pains (ALL ABOARDDDD...) there are definitely some steps to be taken to get it to the next level. Here are some options:
1. Make it more of a social even either pre or post camp.
2. Link up with Under Armour to make it more of an epic camp event than just a couple people getting some work in. Can't do it as big as The Opening and UA already sponsors the Rivals 5-Star Challenge... and there may be some conflicts doing it on a school campus... but this is probably something you could explore.
3. Even more involvement from current players. Jaylon Smith coaching you at linebacker is awesome. I want more of that.
4. Less drills, more competition. Drills are great for the coaches to evaluate players and for the players to actually learn... but kids love to compete. More 1v1 reps, maybe some 7on or something at the end.

Just some ideas, dunno if any of them really make sense.

Absolutely! I think all of them make sense. We have to change the perception and that is just a reality of what a lot of kids think about ole ND, but we are. Kelly gets it and so does Jack. We have all of the things required to be elite again, we just need to present them in a manner that gets the kids buzzing about us. I can't imagine a better opportunity than having Jaylon coach up Hayes, who he says he emulates his game after, when most of us believe he is a future Butkus winner and first rd pick. I couldn't agree with you more, and I haven't been this optimistic in a long time. I am sold that Kelly was the perfect hire and we are starting to really see why. 3-1 against USC, Natty appearance, 3-1 against MSU. The only thing really lacking is against Michigan, but I fully expect a W this year.

Didn't want to bump his thread. What's the word on Tillery's visit?

I saw on twitter he's back in LA, and with the looming concern over his committed-ness, I'd expect the reporters interviewed him.

Seems to have had a great time. I haven't seen anything bad. I know it will be a battle, but I do believe he really loves ND.

The thing is though Kelly and co. are still a year or two behind the curve in most respects. Irish Invasion style events have been going on for a couple of years now. It's good to see them attempting to close the gap though and get up to speed with what other programs are doing.

Seeing the kids wearing such generic grey tshirts made me go SMH bigtime, they should be getting something cooler and more unique for an Notre Dame camp. Something to get the kids excited about. And its a pity the proper UA gear isnt launched before this camp so the kids could see the actual gear they will be wearing at ND.

I know ND had an inter-HS 7on7 tourney last year as the local HS in MI (Fenton) were at it. Is that scheduled again for this year or is it part of this camp?

I kind if liked them, but I agree UA will really boost the efforts with the kids. I know most people like Nike, so do I, but UA is really taking off and will do great things with the partnership.

Agreed, but they are doing it. The alternative is to not and then what we all be saying? You have to start somewhere, and under other regimes this wouldn't even have happened.

Nice recap...on the video:

1. Crawford is definitely a heck of an athlete. He looks quick laterally with awesome change of direction, good straight line speed and explosive burst. Also looks physical for a smaller buid.

2. Tillery is massive but looks like he doesnt have too much bad weight and moves well.

3. Hoge is aggressive, has really good feet and looks like he will play with great pad level.

4. Hayes moves EXTREMELY well for a man his size...excellent change of direction and explosiveness, and looks agile and fast with room to grow.

5. Patrick is enormous...i mean ENORMOUS

Just saw this about FNL:

That has to be so cool for a prospect. Hopefully we can do a better job of having high-profile grads at our camps going forward.
