OK...When are we gonna see some trick plays?

Do you think CW and staff are holding back on the trick plays for any reason? I'd like to see a flea flicker, a reverse pass, a double reverse pass, a pass to BQ, something.

Have we run any trick plays this year?

One comes to mind when we fake punted and had a direct snap to Travis Thomas for a huge gain.

Yeah, their focusing on getting the bread and butter to be executed properly first.

I think this is a good idea, but I would like to see 1 play per game. But, then again, with our offensive inconsisentency, that may be a drive killer.

I like trick plays...they can cause big momentum swings. Also something else for teams to prepare for if they know you run them.

i wouldn't even call that a trick play. it was an on-field option that was available for use if the defensive formation was favorable for it - like an audible.

although it wasn't a trick play, quinn's play action fake on that 4th and 1 conversion to carlson was a thing of beauty...EVERYBODY bit on that fake.

i think that he's saving the tricks for USC. if we have only 1 loss that week it should be a good time to use some trickery.

I think he is just focusing on getting the Offense to execute the basic plays in their playbook. Execute the "normal" plays before you decide to get cute.

Trick or gimmick plays should not be used on a regular basis, ie one per game. The definition of a trick play is, your normal offense is sucking so you have to catch them off guard and do something out of the ordinary. A fake punt is a trick play, thats why it is done on 4th down, the punting down, because if your offense was producing yards you would not have to convert on 4th.
Trick plays are something you go over in training camp to introduce them to the team. But do not use up practice time in the season to prepare for.
When ever I see a trick play I see a team struggling for something to go their way.

I remember Ty's last time playing USC before he was canned. He came out with all kinds of stupid rink-a-dink plays....why? Because he knew his offensive scheme sucked. And Diedrick(if I remember correctly) knew it too.

So to in short, trick plays are only planned by teams that have no or little plans. And by teams that have tried everything but are still being shut down.

Me personally, I am glad we have not seen many of them this season.

I seem to recall a trick play that didn't work... I thought it was this year, but my memory is a little fuzzy right now.

I know last year Samardjiza threw a pass that didn't work. or was that the spring game or both?

I don't remember.
