Just wanted an outsiders opinion on this. Im sure you Irish fans are hoping to catch some of the game...and checkup on how MSU is looking.

Anyway, what do you expect from this game?

But it won't be a hairball, and ND will be right to be confident.

MSU isn't any good. Some of their players are ok, some are even very good. But the team itself doesn't appear to be any good this year. They'll give ND their best but I don't think they stay within 3 touchdowns.

They sucked last year too, but that didn't stop them from beating ND.

Pitt isnt THAT bad of a team so I wouldnt call it "coughing up a hairball". They have beat two realitivly solid teams thus far by a good margin.

The Defense is obviously rock solid. And the Offense has Tyler Palko, one of the nations better Quarterbacks. Along with two great wide recievers that are averaging somewhere around 30 yards per carry.

Were gonna be better than last year, we return pretty much everyone. The Defense looks improved, and the Offense might be better than last year.

We have enough talent to be a Top 25 team this year...but nothing ever seems to go right for MSU Football. Hopefully we can actually pull it together for a great season for the first time in several years.

No, last year they were very good - then fell apart.

Compare the starts-

MSU 2005
Kent State 49-14
Hawaii 42-14
@ Notre Dame 44-41
@ Illinois 61-14
Michigan 31-34

MSU 2006
vs Idaho 27-17
vs E. Michigan 52-20

Now that team was FLYING last year before they f'd up the Michigan game, and f'd up the next week against Ohio State. They should probably have won both of those games, and from there, who knows? But they DID fall apart in those two games, and then they tanked the entire rest of the season, so that ignorant fans could say "Haha ND lost to a 5-6 terrible MSU team." No, ND lost last year to a very good MSU team, which was not the same team that ended the season. However, it appears that MSU is the same terrible team right now that they were after Ohio State last season. In other words, this year, Sparty sucks. John L. Smith is on his way out, because they're not going to recapture the magic they had before they blew the Michigan game last year.

ND will roll this team.

Michigan finishes 7-5, and you say they sucked.

Sparty finishes 5-6, yet "ND lost last year to a very good MSU team,"

I'm glad your standards are so consistent.

You hold yourself to the same standards as Michigan State? Are you kidding? 7-5 is bad FOR Michigan. I never said Michigan sucked last season, though I did say that they were, at the end of the day, only a 7-5 team, whatever their talent level. I've said here before that Michigan was a tougher game last year than every game except OSU, including the two other losses.

But you have to judge a team by who they are at the time. Usually it's not so dramatic a difference as last year was with MSU. But that team was top 10 caliber at one point, and bottom 10 caliber at another point. That's very rare.

I love how some of you can talk shit with results like these:

1997- L 23-7
1998- L 45-23
1999- L 23-13
2000- L 27-21
2001- L 17-10
2002- W 21-17
2003- L 22-16
2004- W 31-24
2005- L 44-41 (OT)

Sparty sucks? Pretty nifty results here I'd say.

As a fan base, take a look at those results and tone it down a bit, eh? In 8 days, we'll figure out who sucks and who has who's number.

And while we're at it Spartans, you've got a pretty good road game tomorrow. Sunday morning, get your ND glasses on.

This is Skunkbear week.

MSU will win. MSU always wins a majority of its first 5-6 games. Then they tank.

This will be one of the wins.
