A lot of those "scientific" theories were religious doctrine adopted by the scientific community due the power and influence of religious leaders. Some of those theories, like the geocentric view of the Universe, were discredited by legitimate scientists much earlier than they were accepted by the mainstream. However they were suppressed due to religious pressure and persecution. This is not the fault of scientists nor some inherent flaw in the scientific method.

I also dislike this view of science, the idea that because science adapts and changes it is some how wrong or flawed. That's the very essence of science, continual change as we grow in knowledge. When the scientific community revises a theory rather than sneering you should rejoice as we are now less ignorant than we were previously. This is in stark contrast to religion which is absolute and refuses to change or revise it's theories thus keeping its followers in ignorance. This is why I prefer to science to religion in matters of governance and scientific discovery.

Amen! Parents are so quick to point out the teacher's flaws and completely ignore their children's problems. Complete BS. I see so many parents sending their kids to alternative high schools (home studies, schools with no homework, etc.) because the teachers "just don't understand" their kids. My wife's aunt constantly runs her mouth about how her kids teachers and coaches are bad and out to get her kids. She just doesn't realize that her kids, while actually being good kids, are just completely lazy mooches who don't do shits. Seriously one of the things that gets under my skin the most.

I'm guessing she doesn't have a structured study time for them and probably doesn't bother to help them with their homework either.
