Rivalry: Ohio State - Michigan

It's that and Michigan's helmets--there's no getting around the fact that they're the coolest helmets in all football.

Second-coolest. I actually know a good number of people who are annoyed by Michigan's helmet design, but I've always liked it and have been known to defend it.

But for me, nothin' beats the stoic simplicity of those shining gold helmets of Notre Dame.

Well you'll have to defend it as the third coolest helmet. Michigan copied Princeton's Tiger striped helmet and called it "winged".

On a side note, I actually like the OSU helmets. I could do without the stickers, but I like the helmets. They are crisp. They are sharp. They are a nice throw back to older days.

Me neither. I don't really like the phrasing "prefer", but if it's 'like better' than how can any self-respecting ND fan say they 'like' Michigan over Ohio State.

Because it's just a game. Even when it's against Michigan. In the grand scheme of things, does it REALLY matter?

That said, I'll be yelling my voice hoarse on game-day, and I'll be in a foul mood the rest of the weekend if we lose to Michigan, but still... it IS just a game, right?

I'm dissapointed too. I think it's sad that 9 of you (as of this moment) prefer the cheatin' $uckeyes, AKA the Columbus Felons, AKA Duh-U Midwest Campus. I thought this board valued clean play more than that.

And further, what kind of football fan goes with a team whose coach wears a freakin' sweatervest? Talk about your sartorial offenses against the game of football. Is McCheaty gunning for George Will's job once he's recruited every Maurice Clarett in the upper midwest?

Ohio State is not on the schedule on a yearly basis.

Michigan is.

There is a book about Notre Dame and Michigan's football rivalry called "Natural Enemies." What the hell am I missing here?

IMO you have respect for your long term rivals i.e. USC and Michigan. You have history there and that brings a kind of kindship. Now tOSU and their thug school and arrogant fans have rubbed me the wrong way. I cannot stand Tressel and how his "turn the other cheek" approach to his players troubles. For the most part UM runs a clean program, you have to give them that.

I refuse to give USC an ounce of respect because they're following the protocal listied above when describing Ohio State, maybe even more so. For Maurice Clarett and Santonio Holmes, I give you LenDale White and Mike Williams. They're no better than Ohio State is, so to USC I say Fight On and F*ck Off.

Michigan might run a clean program, so good for them. Way to do what you're supposed to. You're SUPPOSED to graduate players and you're SUPPOSED to run a clean program. Schools that do it get too much credit in that regard. It is the ones that aren't that should get grilled.

Michigan is on the schedule annually. They're fans are just as arrogant as Ohio State's or anyone else's. Lloyd Carr is as big of a dick as just about any coach in America. He's a crusty old bastard as far as I'm concerned. He has the personality of a dog turd in the rain.

Garbage. Same garbage you can pretty much find on Michigan boards or just about any board that isn't a Notre Dame board.

I'd never cheer for Michigan ever. If they play USC or Miami, I'd hope that they win. I wouldn't go out of my way to watch the game and cheer them on, though.
