How can you think asaph is going to gain 600 yards this yr?? He gained only 67 yds last yr and isn't going to get many carries this yr other than short yardage situations.
Actually there are very good arguments to be made for 250 yds. and only
some good ones for 600 yds. I'll try the latter.
67 yds last year, yes. But true freshman fullbacks don't get the carries to begin with.
Ball security is always a worry with freshman. Another reason he didn't get the carries last year. This will be much improved and he will have thus given Charlie the trust, that Charlie needs, to call his number.
Last year if Charlie needed 1 yard or less, Asaph was on Charlie's play list options.
This year that number jumps to 3 yards or less.
Travis Thomas moves to linebacker. TT's reps, which were mostly off guard blasts anyway, will be Asaph's plays. Darius can't handle all the load himself.
If he starts the season well, gets some blood & guts 3-4 yard runs, doesn't fumble and blasts linebackers backwards on contact, he will continue to get his number called.
In closing, if once a game he can reel off a 15-20 yarder. He might rack up some decent yardage on the year.
There,....that's an argument. Might not be my argument, or even the correct one but it's still a plausible scenario.
Regardless of the above argument, 600+ is probably not going to happen.
I say Asaph will gain......300-400 yds on the ground this year.
