He recently popped up on the interested in ND list. Generally this happens when a player starts receiving stuff from the staff.

This kid translates to the DT spot in college and will move to nose for his senior year.

had a chance to see him play a few times and he is dominating and nasty. he makes a lot of plays in the backfield. every year this school is competing for the championship here in northern california. It is the same school that produced Donte Stallworth and Ontorio Smith.

He is a teammate of OT Devan Cunningham.

Both play positions the Irish are in dire need of.

I love these kids of Island decent from out West. They play the game without fear.

yeah they are actually really good friends! the football team at that school is very close they spend more time together than any other high school football team that I have seen. these guys go to other schools football games together with their jerseys on to watch their opponents. They play on Saturday mornings because of the their bad neighborhood.

We used to do this too whenever the opportunity presented itself. If we had a Saturday 1PM game, we'd go watch someone on the schedule we hadn't played yet who was playing Friday night.

Sounds like ND has plenty to offer these two.

Jigga is right..................we really need to look a more of these guys from the "islands". Look at some of the linemen that have recently come out of Oregon & went on to the NFL. Ther'e big,( and I mean real big), mean, & nasty. They grow up thinking nothing but football as their escape to a better life.

i agree, they are very athletic too for as big as they are. There was some Samoan's in my platoon in the marines and these guys were just unbelievable. Solid, fast and agile. Would be great to get some pacific islanders into the program on our O and D lines and some linebackers.

There is a "warrior" kind of mentality amongst the culture. I don't like to use that term in regards to football, but let's just say that they are tough kids and play with a very mean streak.

Assuming a guy were ever a good fit for Notre Dame, I think it would be interesting.

Let me tell ya a story about how mean and crazy some of them can be. I played a little rugby in the marines while we were stationed overseas. There was a rugby tournement in Hawai'i going on and there was a team from Samoa. After they pounded us into the field one game, they went out into the parking lot, and were playing a game out there IN THE PARKING LOT. They must have a pain tolerance out of this world. Road rashes up and down their bodies. It was pretty intimidating to watch. I must have hurt for about a month after getting done with that game.

let me give you my take...personally i dont know this guy, or what type of person he is...I can only go by the reputation that his high school has had for yeeeaaaarrrrsss. Grant high school is in the middle of he ghetto, a funny side note, me and my brother "dannyboy ayers" played baseball in there little league division, we were 2 of only 3 white kids in the entire league, which had about 500+ kids...but back to the subject at hand...it has been reported through the years that players play with GPA's of 1.0, constant violence and gang activity surround the program, however they are a powerhouse here in norcal...and my brother made mention, its the same school that produced Onterio Smith...you know the "whizzanator"

On the positive side, again I dont know this guy, he could be a diamond in the rough...it would be interesting to see how he fits into South Bend...i would love to give him an oppurtunity

When I was in the army I trained with two marines. If the company ran a mile in the morning these two ran two miles. If we ran two miles they'd run five. If we did 50 pushups, they'd do 100. They tackled every task with unbridled athletic superiority. The real difference between us was when they tried to run through a brick wall and I walked around it.

Pounding on the marines and then playing on the parking lot says something.

beeing in the Marines Infantry for 8 glorious years I like to think of myself as "all day tough" and have really good skills when it comes to hooking and jabbing but damn do I hate going up against these guys or even the thought of having to roll with one, the pain tolerance and the strength are of the scale. How does it relate to football? All they want to do is hurt people and care nothing about the stinger that they got two plays ago.

like nayers pointed out the grades are an issue at this school. not saying that he has issues because i don't have his report card but they generally are here at this school. on the otherside of the coin i recruited three starters out of this school and all of them had 3.0 gpa or higher and scored very well on their placment tests to enter the military hope that it translates over to the SAT

Hey Dannyboy, what unit were you with? I was with 3rd Battalion 5th marine regiment from '89 to 93. I was in the 81mm platoon. Miss it a ton, had every intention of going back in after graduating college, but my wife told me there was no f'n way she would stay with me if I did, so I chose to stay with her. Made the right choice I would like to think, but I miss the friends of mine that stayed in.

5th Battalion 10th Marines here. 0861 (Forward Observer) from 97-98. Then 4th platoon Alpha Company 2nd Recon from 98-01. Later recalled to Afghanistan. Is it harder these days getting kids to sign up Ayers?

now I get Mar81 why dont you just call yourself a combat spades player? J/K

Nice one Dannyboy! I'll give ya that one just because we did play a lot of spades in the field and overseas during downtime. So how goes the recruiting? Is it just me or are these kids today a little on the soft side and are a bit on the lazy side? Do you think that has anything to do with some of the difficulty getting some kids to sign up? I would think if a person is showing some interest in the Corps, you have an idea of what your getting into.

i got out in Febuary, but while i was recruiting it was the worst thing you can do. half of the time you just want to hit the kids the other time you want to hit there parents and the damn anti war protesters who think yelling at me is going to make me call the President and tell him to stop doing what he is doing. I sell cars now since getting out.
