Here it is, for the most hated team not to appear on Notre Dame's schedule.

This guy's life is pretty much over with. -Jigga

Police use Mace on Clarett, arrest him after chase
Associated Press

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Maurice Clarett was arrested early Wednesday after a highway chase that ended with police using Mace on the former Ohio State running back and finding four loaded guns in his truck, a police spokesman said.

Officers used Mace to subdue Clarett after a stun gun was ineffective because the former Fiesta Bowl star was wearing a bullet-resistant vest, Sgt. Michael Woods said.

"It took several officers to get him handcuffed," Woods said. "Even after he was placed in the paddy wagon, he was still kicking at the doors and being a problem for the officers."

Clarett was being interviewed at police headquarters. Authorities planned to charge him with carrying concealed weapons and other counts, Woods said.

Clarett made an illegal U-turn on the city's east side and failed to stop when officers tried to pull him over.

Clarett was being pursued by police while driving eastbound on Interstate 70 when he darted across the median and began heading west. Clarett drove over a spike strip that was placed on the highway, flattening the driver's side tires of the SUV, Woods said.

Clarett exited the highway and pulled into a restaurant parking lot, where officers removed him from the SUV after he failed to obey numerous orders to exit the vehicle, Woods said.

After Clarett was placed in a police van, officers discovered a loaded rifle and three loaded handguns in the front of the vehicle, Woods said.

Woods said he did not know where Clarett got the guns or why he had them and that federal authorities plan to trace their ownership.

Clarett, 22, is currently awaiting trial on two counts of aggravated robbery, four counts of robbery and one count of carrying a concealed weapon in a separate case. Authorities said he was identified by witnesses as the person who flashed a gun and robbed two people in an alley behind the Opium Lounge in the early hours of Jan. 1.

Clarett scored the winning touchdown in the second overtime to lead Ohio State to the 2002 national championship, the school's first since 1968. But that was the last game the freshman played for Ohio State. He sat out the 2003 season after being charged with misdemeanor falsification on a police report, then dropped out of school. He sued to be included in the 2004 NFL draft and lost in court.

A surprise third-round pick in the 2005 draft, he was cut by the Denver Broncos during the preseason.

When I saw that headline this morning I thought that ESPN had slipped up and was posting old news.

My guess is that this doesn't bode well for his other trial. Those new lawyers he just hired must regret signing up for this one.

Why would a fine upstanding member of society like Clarett need to wear a bullet proof vest while in possession of numerous firearms out on the town? Gotta be something going on in this kid's life that nobody knows about.

More like a waste of life.

What is he going to do with himself after all of this? He's either going to jail or he'll end up dead at the rate he's going.

This guy seriously needs God in his life.

And he going to get Him.

Probably for the next 10 to 20 years.

Definitely before his first parole hearing.

I'm still confused.

Why in the hell was he wearing a bully vest?

And how did he get it?

Vests are easy to come by. Here in SoFLA, anyway, we have police equipment STORES that anyone can shop in. It's unreal. I'll guarantee you there's a glass pipe related to this insanity. Puff, Drive, Bang ! Just another night on the town. Oh, what a giggle we'll have.

Sounds like he's going to get to play soldier again, this time on the "inside" where there are no vests allowed and you'd better be watching your back.

Speaking of backs, Clarett was a running back in college. It's a good thing because he'll be running back to his cell every time some lonely inmate wants some man ass. LMAO!!!!

If he were a tight end, he wouldn't be for long.

I thought it was ILLEGAL for civilians to have any kind of bullet piercing armour.

Yup. It's also illegal to carry an arsenal on the front passenger seat, illegal to evade police and illegal to rob people. But here in the sunshine state, and evidently in Ohio, that's just a night out on the town.

P.S. As far as shopping in these police equipment stores, you're supposed to show valid ID that you are indeed a law enforcement official, but the guys behind the counter are the same guys that run local pawn shops. Needless to say, they are not sticklers for detail.

What did tOSU do to this kid. He was a pretty good student in HS (would have gotten into ND) never was in trouble with the law, graduated early. Goes and plays for Tressel and he goes out of control. I know he needs to take responsibility for himself, but you think that maybe since he was treated like royalty at tOSU he lost it?

He was a primadonna in high school, too. Absolutely and without question. He was at Ohio State for one year, so the problem goes much deeper than just one season under Jim Tressel.

My uncle scouted him his senior year of high school. That blowout he had with Tim Spencer against Northwestern on national TV? Apparently, that was pretty common of Clarett in high school as well. He was a god in high school, too and walked around with a sense of entitlement because of his athletic talents.

He was well on his way to being ruined when he arrived in Columbus as a freshman.

This is actually pretty sad. You kind of wonder if he had a coach like Lou or Bo or
Woody if something like this could have happened. He's ultimately responsible for his stupid decision making, but it makes you wonder what's going on at Ohio St. example Santonio Holmes

Bulletproof vest and Loaded guns. Sounds like Maurice was gonna rob drug dealers or he had some beef and he was gonna get his murder game on.

This is where it gets really strange and maybe even a bit creepy.

I think 3 of the witnesses that testified against him in court live in the area he was caught. So one theory I heard was that he was on his way to 'silence' them.

bullet piercing armour?

Did you mean armor piercing bullets or just armor?

I don't know of a law about armor but lots of families of soldiers were buying it and shipping it overseas.

Another tragic story of wasted youth. It's actually quite a shame. I think that we should start the bi-polar club for superstart athletes. Founding member would have to be Mike Tyson, followed by Terrell Owens..... Any other we sould be adding?

There was a shootout in California several years ago...a bank robberty I believe. The offenders were wearing vests that were bulletproof. Since then, I believe a national law was passed that it is illegal for civilians to wear bullet piercing armour of any kind.

Maybe it wasn't a national law and it was only passed in California.
