UND.com released the Roster with #'s.

It had Jabbie listed as #37.......Is he back with the team or was this an oversight?
It did not list OLB Abdel Banda anywhere ....is he off the team?

You may want to check again. I read that it was not completely updated.

Weis is giving everyone NFL numbers now.

He said early last year the one change that was the hardest for him to adjust to was in preparing for an opponent, the roster of a college football team would be all over the board numerically.

Lou Somogyi at BGI said Jabbie appears to be back with the team and Banda is most likely gone.

I hate NFL numbers I certainly hope he keeps the traditionally goofy numbering system that college football has.

I agree. and having his team have NFL numbers isn't going to help. He has to scout the other teams, and they're not changing. and he's not giving everyone NFL numbers. Darius is still 3, Rhema is still 5... maybe he was just trying to free up #7, which is really too bad if Bragg cared at all about the number.

On 3/22 it was announced that Jabbie was not playing Spring football to focus on his studies. There was no elaboration.

I think people assumed he had quit football. Sitting a semester of footaball may well have been an motivated by the Administration and not by the Athletic Dept. I didn't read that March announcement as a Hibenlike shift in priorities but rather that the Administration was saying right now there's one priority.

It could be oversight, or it could be his academics are now in good enough shape so he can pursue football.

I don't think he'd make a 5th year senior and a junior change at the end of their careers.

Many of the numbers were freed up by departing players. The incoming freshmen seemed to be paired up with numbers to that of the NFL jersey numbering scheme.

what does "medicals" mean? from the presser:

http://und.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/080606aak.html

does that mean an injury that will no longer allow him to play or what? thanks for any insight.

Yes, a career ending injury. I don't recall it being worded that way before. Usually it's been announced that that player has sustained a career ending injury.

Football is finished but he remains on UND scholarship. He does not count against the 85 scholarship maximum.
