Illinois fans, mainly basketball, but football too are extemely annoying, I live around alot of them and they drive me insane. They say stupid stuff like ND would go 5-6 if we played their schedule. And the loss to NC in the 05 NCAA, how they got screwed, refs blew it, I just call them the Fighting Excuses or the Fighting Victims, usually shuts em up.
Man, oh, man do I second that. Take a spoonful of rep points for this one.
I had a special interest in them because my sister was friends with Kurt Kittner in high school. Nice kid. I wanted him to do well. Other than that, I never cared for Illinois much growing up in Chicago. I always leaned to Notre Dame of course, but my Big Ten team was always Ohio State because I spent summers there with my grandmother as a kid.
Illini alums are a lot like Michigan alums....takes one to screw in the lightbulb and another 3 to tell you how great they are. No team that LOST the Final Four Championship was ever greater than Illlinois 2005 according to their fans. Biggest moral victory in history.
mirertobrooks, I wouldn't worry about them too much. I started ignoring Illinois fans years ago just like I did Cub fans. I see them, but don't hear them. When Indiana steals Eric Gordon from them and Derrick Rose goes to Europe, they'll all piss and moan about it. Then Benn, Tez Wilson and Hughes will all come to ND and they'll pretty much be relegated to not knowing the football recruits they actually have a chance at.
Their alumni base in Chicago make it difficult for me to like them, especially the basketball team.
To answer the question, the best would probably have to go to Nebraska. Miami would be the worst because even if they're number one and unbeaten they still can't pack them in. At least when SC wins, they sell out. The Canes can't even do that.
I would not attend a game in Ann Arbor if all of my expenses were paid. I would honestly rather go to the dentist or swallow vast amounts of thumb tacks.
