just re-watched the highlights of temple.

i may get some "what chu talkin bout willis" from this comment, but, i think TJ looks like michael floyd (if MF was put in the dryer a little too long). try and follow:

his stride looks longer like mikes was. ability to take a bubble for a first down or big gain because of such a burst and step the DB simply has to play it safe and give a cushion. add to this a pretty good stiff arm and ability to run through arm tackles. you literally have a MF mini-me.

I'm not seeing it here, Lloyd.

Floyd couldn't be out jumped or tackled by cornerbacks. TJ doesn't have a history of 'breaking tackles'. Their speed may be the same, but size? - Floyd. Strength? - Floyd. Leaping? - Floyd. Tackle breaking? - Floyd. And I don't think any of those are close.

Davaris is more like Floyd but that is still an unfair comparison. Jones is a complete wide receiver but what seperates him is his route running.

again, i'm not straight up comparing. all im saying is there were a few highlights (the bubble for 50+ or whatever it was) looked like floyd only smaller. TJ's running style, after the catch, seems to have changed. im not lumping them together and giving edges to TJ. im saying TJ looks like he's modeled his play, this year, after floyd--and it looks good.

you are correct in your comment. but do you see what im trying to say? re-watch that bubble screen and rewatch any bubble from floyds senior year. pretty comparable.

I guess they do run similarly. BTW - speaking of that bubble screen, that play scares me. It's fine against Temple, but it seems high risk, low reward. Those broken tackles aren't happening against better competition.

It's either a borderline fumble, or a 3 yard gain and the WR gets mauled. Maybe BK is setting up for a nice fake, but I cringe when I see that play.

IF they get blocking like they did against Temple (I know, not bloody likely, but still......), then those screens will move the chains every time. They will also pull all of the DBs up, making it easier for Rees to get over the top.

My issue with the screens is that you can see them coming from a mile away. You've got Niklas lined up in a goofy stance outside of TJ. Its just asking for the play to get blown up. Last year, they'd have Eifert do the same thing (lined up with his feet even as opposed to in a real WR stance with one foot in front of the other). I swear about 90% of the time that a TE or Daniel Smith is lined up in the slot, its a quick screen that way or a run that way.

the WR bubble doesnt scare me as much as that HB swing we used to run with riddick. the one that was called a fumble and returned for a TD comes to mind.

kmoose is right, if the blocking is there. its a decent play. 4+ yards its a successful play, like a running play.

i think you only run it if its a LB on the slot and not nickle or drop safety.

We should probably take this to 'post game discussion' or 'Michigan', but my fear is that Michigan's defense will be well coached, and their DBs are very aggressive and fast.

If we see it, I hope it's a pump fake and Niklas for a TD.

yup. scary. but i think a little bit of temple was a chess match for michigan. putting the pieces in place. a false key.

I swear Kuehnja please stop asking conversations to be moved. TJ ran the bubble multiple times the conversation is fine here.

With all due respect, no.

If this is going to go into a tangent about play calling and philosophy, it doesn't belong here. I'm not being combative, just suggesting, so please settle down.

Anyway. TJ seems to be faster this year than any previous year. Or Temple is just slow. Probably the later lol.

Agree with your agree. We have 3 guys that can go deep. Honest question, when if ever has ND been able to say that?

He was very quick making moves after catching the ball. His excitement to making the punt returns better is awesome. Another great team player.

Haha, you caught me. I meant to say, when's the last time we had 3 guys that could 'burn' by the defense? I think DD and Brown are legit deep threats in that sense, and I'm tempted to say TJ look fast enough to also take the top off as well.

True, but he's not going to play enough this year to be factored in. I just don't think he'll be in the rotation a lot when it's crunch time.

I'm saying, IDK the last time we had 3 guys that could very well be on the field at the same time, that are all threats because of speed.

true, but quite a bit of meaningful reps ...i think he was in even on the first drive...something i just noticed on the 1st play of the game(off topic) cj had a nice block to help amir get the big gasher...hell for not being in the 2 deep, he started the game...ok back on topic

TJ is my main man! True team player through and through. Played his role for three seasons without complaint and waited for his opportunity to be "the man", which I believe he will take full advantage of.
